Just in time for Valentine's Day: 14 oz Acqua di Gio for $150!

I kid you not.

As much as most of us here on Basenotes don't like Acqua di Gio, it continues to sell very well and has been copied many times. It also has a fanatically loyal following among many (seriously); hence, it's one of the top three men's fragrances in the US along with Armani Code and Unforgivable.

So it shouldn't surprise us that Giorgio Armani has came out with a new 14 oz limited-edition bottle of Acqua di Gio for $150, available at your local Macy's just in time for Valentine's Day.

But really, who needs that much Acqua di Gio? And can't you do better for $150? I mean, it costs less than that for a 1.7 oz bottle of any Bond No. 9 fragrance, for pity sakes!

Still, it will sell... people are suckers for this sort of stuff.

Now everyone at the frat. can share the bottle, instead of everyone having to buy their own ! ...a "community" bottle if you will j/k

I like Aqua Di Gio(I just wish it wasn't so popular), but 14oz of it ? It'll go bad before you get halfway through it, or the person will get tired of it...either way, it's a waste of money. (IMO)

It seems like some people that frequently wear AdG put it on by the ounce, so this might not be a bad idea for them.

For me, there's no point, considering 1oz will last me just as long as 14oz...

Wasnt this 14 Oz. limited edition released last year also for some special occasion ?

Since it is being offered, that must mean they feel it will sell (or maybe just trying to unload any leftovers from the past). Would be interesting to know how many they do sell. With all the marketing they do on it...wall size posters, shelves lined with bottles, etc... they will probably sell most (if not all) of their limited edtion.

I am surprised AdG sells as well as it does - its not exactly a bargain priced fragrance. A 3.4 Oz. tester at Scentiments.com is $48..

Wow, I have never priced it before. No wonder Mr. Armani has all those yachts, houses, and other toys. Extreme mass marketing has done well in emptying young American pockets.

bois d'argent also comes in a family size I saw today a megalithic bottle for I think they said $225. i don't know how big it was, giant, a better deal than paying $175 for the standard size, I think maybe 2x the size of that one, a real big gulp!
