Nice is a shopper's paradise. For perfume lovers there are many choices -

and I can recommend them all personally!

MOLINARD - a small, friendly shop (Rue St. Francois de Paul) with a tiny

museum attatched, selling all the Molinard staples including Habanita and

Nirmala. Also sells a fabulous perfume book (l'ABC du parfum).

GALLERIES LAFAYETTE -upmarket dept. store with a fabulous range of

perfumes including Shiseido, Lutens, Aqua di Parma etc.

L'OCCITANE - the local specialist for Eau de Colognes and bodycare.

LES NEREIDES - a jewellery shop that has it's own range of perfumes.

MARIONNAUD - A french chain of perfume stores that sell most brands of

(mainly french) fragrances. I found Feminite du Bois there. They are

usually very generous with samples popped in your bag free when you purchase anything.

SEPHORA - young -at- heart and upbeat with lots of Serge Lutens etc.

YVES ROCHER - in the NIce Etoile shopping complex. Very reasonable prices

and the perfumes and bodycare products make great gifts.

The Mono Prix has a perfume section as well in Nice France. It's a small collection but you can still find some of the core brands. Galleries Lafayette and L'Occitane are really good places to start.

I have just returned from Nice and there is an independent shop called Tanagra on Rue Alphonse Karr. They stock the usual French and international names but also stock great niche items: Killian, Odin, Frederic Malle, Bois, Lutens, the Different Company, the full range of l'Artisan Parfumeur, Tom Ford Private Blends and the list goes on. The service is superb, the staff knowledgeable and unobtrusive and also very generous with samples and decants. A great shopping experience.

Don´t forget Fragonard, that has it´s own shop by the waterfront in the old city.
