what fragrance names would make good pet (dog) names?

I wouldn't name a dog Vetiver. But I think Iris is a lovely name for a pooch. What fragrance names might I have to choose from for this dog I want to get?

I haven't given it too much thought yet. Spezie seems like a possibility, but I'm not rushing to the bank with it. Zino? But I'm not a big fan of the scent. Before someone suggests it, Kouros is just a little too ridiculously gay. Cumming might be nice for a bulldog but I'm probably not getting one.

It has to be a male cause I have to be able to leave it with my friends' 3 dogs from time to time; bitches prove too aggressive.

Suggestions? Something from your wardrobe?

M7 or Basala might be fun. Then again, you could just name him SERGE!
Kouros or Ungaro will do
Sultan, as in Ambre Sultan? Or maybe Samourai (Sam for short?)
Brut would be appropriate for most hounds

Jovan wouldn't sound too bad either I suppose.
I vote for Chergui (pronounced sher-GEE). I will try to think of some more and post after work. Sorry, not enough coffee yet!

I have a red Japanese Shiba Inu dog named Ko-Ko. She's named after one of the Geishas in Gilbert & Sullivan's "The Mikado". Of course, people automatically assume she's named after Chanel. It depends on the dog or breed you're planning to get. If it's an Italian Greyhound, maybe Gucci?

Anteaus
Jicky
Kyoto
Javari
Zino

amorito (like the fragrance from the body shop...it literally means little love in spanish. and it could be a good dog name)
xeryus (as in the givenchy fragrance)
lotto (as in the lotto fragrance)

those are the only ones i can think of at the moment. the other names are usually just designed to make the perfume sound sexy or reflects the notes of the perfume, so its kind of hard to find something...

Jicky
Amen
Amor
Kenzo

i like Serge as well.

do you think Mr T would name his dog Fou [d'Absinthe]?

mechant loup if it's a chihuahua.

tam dao? chene (bit of play on chien, i guess)?

le dandy

dzing
dzongkha

if it was my dog, it'd be Odeur 53, one of my faves (and completely ridiculous, but i like that).

HTH!
What about Brit? Or Bvlgari?
Definitely black if you don't want to be out!
Jokes aside, both names of some frags or some notes are a nice idea for a dog's name:
Antaeus
Coriander
Coriolan
Narcisse
Cristobal
Furyo
Tam Dao
Nobile
Jules
Portos
Cardamome
Alamut
...

serge is a good name...but if i had a dog i'd name it 53...or any 2 digit number
post #25 of 92
How about "parfums*PARFUMS Series 7 Sweet: Nomad Tea"?
OK that was a lame one.

I actually thought "Jicky" right after I had read the thread title, but Dzing and Joop are also great. If "pooch" implies a small dog, these are the ones to go with imho. I don't get why Kouros would be a gay name for a dog (although I would say that it wouldn't really match a small dog)
How about Erolfa. Dogs to that sometimes and cats too.

Serge sounds like one of those little frou frou dogs some women carry around in there purses while they shop at gucci or something.

How about Hummer. Think of the looks you'll get when you let him run in the park and start calling out " Here Hummer, Here Hummer"

It have to get a smallish smooth haired mutt, I think.

I friend of mine once dogsat for a pomeranian named Gucci, so cute!

More names, please! Doesn't have to be fragrance related, necessarily!

My friend Palanca has a dog with the great name Kika.

Along the funny twist this thread has taken, let me advice
FCUK him
FCUK her
or simply Rive Gauche: at least if it bites someone you've got an excuse...
Shadow, if its black, as in Silver Shadow (not a great fragrance though..)
Hmmm... My dogs are Coco (Lhasa Apso) and Ginger (Yorkie), both female...

For a small smooth-haired one, maybe a toy Pinscher named Helmut (as in Lang). Sage is good, but doesn't call to mind a particular breed.

A friend once had a mixed breed named Dioji... (get it? Dee-OH-gee = DOG)...

We had a doberman many years ago...
If I own two dogs, I would be calling them "D" & "G"

Coty

Agent Provocateur Eau Emotionelle, if I were naming a bitch..

'Ape' for short
Barc Jacobs is very cute. A smooth-haired mutt? I really am liking Jicky more and more. No one else's mutt will be named Jicky and you will be telling people all the time the meaning/origin of the name. If you like that, it's perfect! If the idea of it horrifies you, then definitely pick something else

Bel Ami
Aramis
Borneo
Xeryus
Angel
Gaultier
For dog names, I like to think of the resonance factor (oral sillage?) when you're yelling, "Hey, xxx, get over here!". Something like "Bel Ami" or "Royal Bain de Caron" wouldn't do. But the following might:

Rocabar
Yatagan
Tuscany
Anarchiste (appropriate for many dogs)
Anucci
Quorum

and maybe

Monsieur Musk

or of course

Zizanie

You might not want to be yelling "Hey, Pheromone for Men!" when the li'l thing is peeing on the neighbor's marigolds.
Down, Smalto, down!

Sit, Jules, no biting.

Annick! Bad girl!
(Muscs) Koublaï Khän being the most bestial fur scent (Serge Lutens) it 'd also sound great and utterly original for a dog

ACACIOSA sounds beautiful for a girl dog (animalic exotic jasmine by Caron)
Fracas.

It is the name of a fragrance by Robert Piguet. And it means "to create a skirmish or uproar", which seems appropriate for a dog with a playful or energetic spirit.

It's also short enough to not tie your tongue when you need to quickly call the dog away from mischief.
Prince de Galles - regal sounding to me.
Aldehyde - Heidi for short
+1 Aramis, Gentleman, Tsar, Polo, Boss
OUDI/OUDY!!

You can pronounce it like AUDI, if you wish!

Another Gilbert and Sullivan fan?! I made my bread and butter performing the operettas for a few years!

Back on topic, maybe Drakkar? Diesel? Geir?
