I met these guys at Dillard's, they said they were in a band. I got to talking to the drummer, and it seems we have similar tastes. He told me they had a gig tonight, and invited me to come. I decided to go, and boy am I glad I did.
They're a country band, with a Jamaican for a rythmn/harmonica player. Mark (The drummer) was really good, and I had a great time talking to him about drum sets and various styles. They played a hard gig tonight though. The lead singer (Lance) won't hire a sound guy, and feedback was a major problem all night long. Lance strained his voice the night before at a gig, and couldn't hit high notes all night long. After a short break, they started playing some ACDC, and the house started rocking hard. The bar was already packed, and some random people invited me to sit with them, got to talking and I found out one of them is an IT guy, right up my alley, although my focus is a little more technically involved. They offered me beer I don't know how many times, and after telling him no for the last time, he told me to order anything I wanted on his tab, (He recommended a martini once he found out Vodka was my drink.) but I once again declined, because I didn't wanted to get kicked out of the bar.
After playing for another hour, and getting about 50 people on the dance floor, Mark told me to play a song, "I've Got Friends In Low Places". Since I haven't listened to country in a while, I said no, but he kept at it, so I sat down. Lance was in the crowd singing and playing his guitar, and Mark wen into the crowd too. Near the end, Lance yelled out "It's our drummer! Who's playing the drumset?!?!" It was a lot of fun, and I ended up talking to Mark after the gig too. Turns out they're from OP, so I'll probably get to see them again sometime.
Just wanted to share that with you.
