Who is this model?

I'm infatuated with the leggy model in the Fendi ads near my office. Any idea who she is?

Some camera phone pics:

i was in sort of a helpful mood and i did some sleuthing online and i'm almost positive it's raquel zimmermann

Sure looks like her. Interesting how the first is a picture of life, the second a picture of still-life, and this one here (which i think you'll enjoy) is a bit of both. Much easier to find than something in a Spencer Tunick installation. Why don't you look her up Lounge, i'm sure she'd love to hear from ya.

Haha! You betcha ... she's really not half-bad, is she? 1983 was a very good year.

By the way, Lounge, i wasn't being sarcastic. If you have a fancy, big-city camera-phone then you can definitely get a woman like this. She's just a regular person like you or me - with just a bit more demand on her time and hella lots more options, that's all.

She looks seriously thoughtful. It's as if she still can't believe they made her wear those shoes.

Maybe she looks serious because her mom, just off camera, told her to lift with her legs, not with her back. ; )

Blasphemy! You don't want a woman like this crouching ... or coughing ... or anything like that. Just look at that bone structure and tone. Sure, lots of it is due to genetics, but just think of the enormous personal sacrifice and discipline, as well as a skilled team of professionals, it takes to maintain that sort of look.

Hm. She does have a lot of symmetry - but the best part is how the left side of her face is different from the right. Genius!
You are the professional, but I am pretty sure she'd look beautiful crouched, coughing, and weezing while cleaning up a broken bottle of Hai Karate in Hung Lo's alley.

Are you kidding? On the right woman those shoes rock! Well, the heel's a little off, but i can overlook that. Why in the world would anyone focus on the shoes, anyway?
hmm, i dunno, maybe because it's a fashion ad?

Fashion! Please. This is about what men want. Of course, there are all kinds of men.

Yes! It's her! Thank you, my curiosity has been satisfied.
Now that's interesting.

And all along i thought it was an 'infatuation'. i do so like to see people follow up on their 'dreams'.
Well from a woman's POV, all I'm thinking is "how the hell would I walk in those shoes?"
Hell, i'll carry her.

Would only take one arm .. haha! Honestly, this thread here was one of the most enjoyable i've seen in a while. Good fun was had by all. Wish we had more people, though.
Well I couldn't walk in 'em, but then I struggle to walk in anything higher than my cowboy boots. I have a cupboard full of really fun heels I never wear because after 10 minutes, it feels as though someone has been beating the balls of my feet with a baseball bat.

Seriously though, some of the shoes out there are like the Western equivalent of Chinese foot binding.

CoTHukoB - bit of a Rammstein fan by any chance?
Good god. That girl has clearly been at this particular pose for a long, long time. She looks exhausted, if game 'til the end. And those are heinously ugly shoes. I happen to like really high heels--probably because I'm selective about when I wear them--but these... why MUST people confuse "previously unconsidered hallucinogen-induced nightmare" with "creative"?!

Props to the girl for looking beautiful anyway.

D'you think Fendi makes these in men's sizes?

You're a sharp one, Indi!

Well, generally speaking i'm fairly impressed with what they've been doing. How about you?

<scratches his head>

Honestly, i'm not sure. I tend to wear Ferragamo and Santoni; they have good workmanship.

Think i see what's happening here. I'm looking at that photograph as a single entity, and all the women are looking at the shoes as a stand-alone item. No, no, no. This is not what you must do.

Look at the pose, the hair, what she is wearing, the bag, and the shoes, etc. together. Synergy. Nothing in that photo is 'by accident' except the moment in which it was taken. Those shoes were carefully selected, and i'll say again that they were chosen properly.

Let's try another take on this.

Look at her in this photograph. It is a dreadful, horrific mistake.

But this is not:

Neither is this:

Nor this:

Anyway, that's all i have to say about that. For now! Haha.
She looks as though she needs the loo in the last photo!

Re: Rammstein - one of my favourite bands. I saw them at Brixton last year and they were phenomenal (I just got Volkerball as well, which is very cool). I was a bit concerned about Rosenrot as I thought Reise Reise was not as good as the previous three albums, but it turned out to be one of their best.

I've seen Brixton footage and wasn't too happy with it, but that's probably because it's of low quality. Here, try this Live aus Berlin, it's old but good.

Even Reise Reise has a few redeeming things. Personally, i like 'Los' and 'Amour' best on that one. And of course you know my favorite from Rosenrot, i used it right in this thread earlier as well as my last post to a Scent of the Day. Haven't picked up Volkerball yet because i saw the ripped 'Moskau' footage and don't like how it's presented. It could have been so ... right! But then a few things made it so ... wrong! I should offer to recut that for 'em.
cothukob not sure what the big deal is, you're allowed to your opinion but regardless of whether you think the model is sexy i still say they're ugly shoes. and you know whose gaze that photograph was taken for? mine, 'cause i'm the person that's supposed to buy them. so i'm glad you think the woman is sexy but they're just shoes, i can say what i want about them and there's no need to get so huffy about it.
Huffy? You've added a word to my vocabulary.

Don't be silly. You're not meant to buy the shoes. You're meant to buy the handbag!

Sexy? Mmm, yes, she's got a thing or two. I've had better. Happy?

Next you will call me a liar! I guarantee ...

PS: Of course this is about opinions. Nothing but opinions. Yours is worth just as much as mine, we're just looking at it from different points of view.

"Think i see what's happening here. I'm looking at that photograph as a single entity, and all the women are looking at the shoes as a stand-alone item. No, no, no. This is not what you must do."

uh huh. i'm sure you were being facetious but it's really annoying when *men* tell *women* they have no place judging *women's clothes* in a *fashion advertisement*. I don't want to get into a fight 'cause it's such a stupid thing to argue about. I just don't appreciate the patronizing attitude.
Didn't mean to come across as patronizing. Keep in mind, that you can't hear my tone of voice and can't see body language. I'm not looking for a fight, just conversation.

All right then, what do you think of the four images i've just posted? The mistake and three that are worthy?
She's wearing shoes? ..brb...

oh, yeah, shoes. I hadn't noticed.

Bwahaha! Yea, they're real easy to miss, but eventually you get a jaded eye.

Trust me, they're there.
The mistake is a mistake because it's so busy you can't tell what you're supposed to buy. Plus, the whole thing is kind of ugly, and no woman would say, "Boy, if I bought an overpriced Fendi thing I'd look like that! Wonder if he'd notice it on the Amex bill." The other ones are sleek and attractive and draw one's attention to the item being hawked, as well as making us think, "shit, maybe I could come off like that if I bought Fendi."
That's my opinion. But maybe you remember Dirty Harry's take on opinions...
before Clint got arty.
WHY are they sleek and attractive? I know why they are attractive to me, but why are they attractive to you? Reach a little more.

Oh, and, haha! Yes, opinions are, indeed, like arseholes. Everybody's got one. I always appreciate your take on things, Vezerne.
the compositions are simple and rather monochromatic, linear. The eye isn't bouncing all over. Actually, the nice ones could be ads for liqueurs, perfumes,or any other luxury items which pretend to impart an aura of luxe and sophistication. Beyond that I haven't time to analyze the "artwork". The blond in black is very retro, though, sort of beatnikish.
--------------------------------------
On the other hand, what is the red photo advertising? Looks like fur floaties - those little inflatable thing that children wear on theirs arms to keep from sinking.
Good.

Don't analyze. Do you think maybe the worthy ones are those you can tell a bit about the model from? Like where she's been, where she's going?

As opposed to some cheesy Prada take on things?
Well, if they were not fashion models, maybe. But I've known people in photo and makeup and their stories make me think that the stories behind those faces probably aren't very interesting.
but I can see that a man would be drooling. And paying for the Fendi shoes.
They can pay for their own damn Fendi shoes ... and like it!

Oh, don't look at the pictures as those of a so-called 'model'. Profession isn't relevant. It's a woman. A person. It could be anyone. What is it that's really important? Look at it that way. Okay, i have to take off for a few, good talking to ya.

PS: Oh, i just wanted to add a few words about the "stories behind the faces" the way i see it. I don't want to type too much, but very quickly, my take on it is - a picture has a purpose. The model is the vehicle. If the vehicle didn't suit the purpose, a different model would have been used. Do you follow? I'd prefer to think of it as: the result doesn't have anything in it that wasn't already there. Of course, that's a bit simple ...

i kind of like the mistake just because it's so bad it's kind of interesting;i kind of like the dress of the girl on my right too, in a trashy goth kind of way. i'm trying to figure out if the ADA is for prada or escada. i'm thinking escada 'cause it's so trashy but it might be prada being tongue in cheek . of the non mistakes i like the last one, the girl is wearing something so simple that the purse and shoe really stand out. fashion ads after awhile get so monotonous though . my favorite ones are the ones natalia vodianova does for calvin klein, and the only time an ad made me stop and stare 'cause i couldn't believe how beautiful the model was, was daria werbowy in prada http://www.geocities.com/dariawerbow...a/prada-20.jpg when i first saw that ad (back then she wasn't quite as well-known as she is now) i spent hours and hours trying to figure out who she was; funny, i showed it to a male friend and the only thing he had to say was "look at that sissy in the pink shirt" i think that was before frat boys all over the country started wearing pink polo shirts
post #37 of 37
Werbowy, another 1983! What did i say earlier? A good year. You know, i'm looking at the link you posted, and my first impression is: there is something so very wrong with that image, i can't quite figure out what it is from a cursory glance. Something's off. I'll look at it some more. If she's 23, then that image has been processed to hell and back. Maybe that's what's got me all turned around.

Honestly, Prada was the first thing that jumped into my head. I don't follow fashion at all, i just know what i like and that's what i buy and it's that simple. I pulled the first images i could conveniently find for my examples without doing any sort of research ... just don't have the time.

I don't look at those photos from a fashion standpoint, they're something else for me. But i'll be glad to listen to any discussion on the topic ... heck, i could learn something. That's never a bad thing.
