I yielded once again to the shopping urge today. Yesterday, I managed to smell and not buy, but today was another story...
I had been considering Chanel No. 19 for quite a while, and today, I popped for it. I'm glad I did, although the price for the EdP, even at the discount place, was a little steep. The scent is an incredible green-and-floral chypre. Beautiful, and not too unlike some chypres for men. Anyway, I thought I could pull it off, and it's just too awesome to miss.
At the same time, I got to smell another little gem by Pierre Balmain, Ivoire. This one is also a green chypre, but with a focus on some of the white florals we're starting to see more of in men's fragrances: in this one, it's lily of the valley, jasmine, ylang-ylang, and (according to another list), jonquil and neroli. Also, some unusual notes: nice spicy accord in the heart note (pepper, nutmeg, cinnamon), and (again, from another list) marigold, galbanum, wormwood, and chamomile in the top. Overall, a unique and very satisfying blend. So, I ended up popping for that, too.
Then I did my little volte-face on Gucci pour Homme II, buying that one as well.
So, after only a little over $200, I had had my fix for a while. How long? I might take bets on that. Any gambling guys out there?
