Ever heard of these?

I made a list of some 30 frags at a local shop that were unknown to me. Some of them appear in the Basenotes' directory but without any reviews. Of the ones that do have reviews, so far only 3 of the frags seem worth checking out, so it looks like the odds of finding a hidden gem aren't good

Here is a list of the ones which do not appear in the directory. Anyone know anything about these?

Faris 5
Laura Mars Splandid
Les Amours de Casanova
Guido Fert
Very Franck Oliver
Giorgio Soldano
Valentina di Guido Crepax Uomo
Maitres Tailleurs
Rembrandt Pour Homme

Thanks.

Just got Valentina Di Guido Crepax UOMO: So far so good, it's been an hour on the back of the hand.

Looked up the story behind this name, pretty interesting....on Wiki.

I use to have a bottle of Maitre Tailleurs. Et Gantier did it for them and it resembled a MPG release. Here's my review of it.

Wow! This was one of earlier threads I started on Basenotes just a few months after joining.

I have since learned that most of the ones listed in my original post are rather obscure cheapos, perhaps intended for specific markets. I ended up buying Faris 5 and Rembrandt Pour Homme. Some of the others disappeared before I had a chance to figure out what they were, so I assume that someone was interested enough to buy them.

I suspect that I misspelled Sergio Soldano as Giorgio Soldano. At that time there were three Soldanos available, in the black, the white, and the tan bottles. I bought the black and white versions but the tan one seems to have disappeared quickly and I've never seen it again anywhere.

J. Casanova is a French company which makes inexpensive fragrances. I think they have some Saudi connection and that they make some fragrances expressly for the Saudi market. I have several of those in my collection. They are pretty good, if unrefined, and all of them are rather strong. Les Amours de Casanova may not be one of those, though, and might have seen wider distribution.

Faris 5 is a discontinued fragrance by Kuwait Perfumes, and is really very good, a sweet, powdery Oriental fragrance similar to Royal Copenhagen except that it seems rougher around the edges and more animalic.

Sergio Soldano Black is an excellent scent! In '90's I went through three full 100ml bottles.
Hard to find now,alas!
