Stupid people on ebay?

So this seller on ebay sells his own decanted sample vials on ebay but shows a picture of the large bottle. It is clearly stated in the auction that you are getting a vial. He charges 99 cents for the vial and 3.99 shipping. He has a lot of negative and neutral feedback by people who feel cheated. Now while the picture is misleading, people do need to read the auction. The seller knows he is misleading people by the picture but he is right that the auction is very clear in what he's selling. Now are people just stupid expecting to buy a full bottle for 99 cents and not reading the description? Should we blame the seller?
Also this seller should fall under the decant ban.

I think the customers are just foolish. It only takes a minute to read the description and there is no deception in the item description.

That's a valid point. I don't ask much of Ebay, just perfection.

My Ebay List of Wants:
  • I insist on the lowest price on the planet
  • I don't want to spend the time to read carefully, and I will be the first to whine if I don't get 3.4 oz. of real Creed for $9.99.
  • I won't buy insurance for any reason
  • I want perfect customer service even when the seller isn't even breaking even
  • I will leave angry feedback very fast without first trying to contact the seller and ask politely what's going on
  • When I get the sample that was in the ad and send it back to the seller because it's not a full bottle, I want the seller to cover shipping
  • My feedback will include plenty of invective, and I won't change it even if the seller tries to make amends


Am I being unreasonable? I don't think so!!!!!!!!

I think the listings are borderline deceptive ... especially for an uneducated buyer who doesn't catch that he's advertising in ml's instead of oz's. But the real problem I see with this seller is his responses to the negatives. Like I've always said, you can always tell a person's character by the way he/she responds in negative situations. He's not offering anything but excuses in his responses, and even gets nasty by stating that people can't read. Maybe some of the buyers were hasty and made purchases not realizing the actual size. But with all the sales this person's actually made, a good merchant would have tried to settle the negatives through email and given the customer some sort of satisfaction. Especially when you're dealing with 99 cent items! How hard would it be to give them back a few bucks if they're really dissatisfied?

I think a lot of confusion (and negatives) would've been avoided if this seller would show the actual sample vial NEXT to the full size bottle in the picture ... just as the better decant and sample sellers on ebay do.

Any ideas as to why there would be a bidding contest on 2.5ml of Lacoste Essential up to $15?
