Pure White Linen?? someone guess this one please!

Clever answer, DD, but not Pure White Linen. I meant what *fragrance* might he wear? What is the significance of zero in his world?

umm...love?
Love in White by Creed?

It is Love in White! Sorry this one was so painful.
You just never know!

Neah, it was a very clever and nice one. Thanks! I just never knew about tennis scoring.

Dayum Haunani! That was a hellaciously clever puzzle! Good solve too dd!

Thank you. (Haunani takes a bow and smiles wickedly.)
Haunani, that was devious! ....but nice devious ! Good solve dd.
Here's an interesting painting. What do you think the artist is trying to get across? Fragrance name only!

I will start off the guessing with Moods Uomo by Krizia

Nope, but that's an outstanding guess and very much on the right track!

Good morning to your evening, Haunani

Maybe Emotions by Rancé?

There are a lot of other 'Emotion' fragrances in the Directory so I don't think this is the answer but....I just have to try

I'm just heading off to bed. Darn this time zone thing! Not Emotions. Kbe's guess was very, very close.

Wishing our favorite dragon a great day!
Dislike these timezones as well

One more try before you go to bed: Temperament by Franck Oliver? Or Temperamento by Gabriele Sabatini?

Sweet dreams, Haunani
Wait a moment: you said that kbe was very, very close.

Close as in: Three Moods by Chanel?

That's it! Puzzle neatly solved by Riannon! The painting is by an Indonesian painter named Affandi, and it's actually called Three Moods. Just happened across it!

Now it's morning here, and I'm off to work. Happy day/evening to all!
Thank you Haunani, lovely puzzle Sharing the prize with kbe!

Interesting painter, that Affandi. I could not resist to look further and there is a great chance that the faces are actually self portraits.

The things we learn here......

Another most interesting puzzle Haunani. I loved the art! And thanks to Riannnon for a good solve..and for sharing

New Puzzle Fragrance only:

Kbe, I saw this earlier today and didn't have time to guess. I still don't have a guess! This sort of looks like WC Fields, but it isn't, is it? Any leeeeeetle hints?
Not ol' WC Haunani.

hint: He was a movie actor most famous for one role in particular where he made an exit on a 'wing and a prayer'.

I will probably not be back online until late tonight so...guess away!

Does the face ring a bell?
I am sorry but I am completely stuck. Don't recognize the face.

Tried the cast of the movie On a Wing and a Prayer and For Whom the Bell Tolls but could not find a match.

I am afraid we need more hints
OK..hint time.

1.Bert and Ernie (cop and cabbie), and 2. the fragrance is seasonally appropriate.
'Wing and a prayer' and 'bell' gave me the first time the movie It's a Wonderful Life. Looked for picture of James Stewart but could not find a match (yet)

With these last clues I think it really has to do with 'It's a Wonderful Life'.

Let's try Gift Homme by Ramon Molvizar since the film is based on the short story The Greatest Gift.
Hah! Got him! Not James Stewart but a picture of Henry Travers, 'angel second class'

Changing my guess in Christmas Angel by Prince Matchabelli.

I know it is a classic (maybe more a US classic?) but I never saw this film
post #9025 of 10562
Indeed it is Henry Travers Riannon, and you are 100% correct in naming the fragrance Christmas Angel by Prince Matchabelli!

Travers played the angel "Clarence" in the movie "It's a Wonderful Life" who is sent down from heaven close to Christmas eve to gain his wings by helping the bankrupt, despondent and suicidal chief character played by James Stewart. At the end of the movie Stewart's character is happily back with family and friends after being shown what the world would be like had he not lived, and as he holds his young daughter in his arms a bell on his Christmas tree rings, indicating another angel has gained her/his wings. It is worth the rental as it is indeed a US Christmas classic movie and a really heartwarming one, particularly for this season.
Thank you Ken. A very nice "seasonally appropriate" fragrance and puzzle indeed

I love heartwarming stories so it seems I simply must watch this movie at Christmas time
post #9027 of 10562
OMG, no WONDER he looked so familiar! Good job, Riannon, and a great clue choice for that fragrance, Mr. K!

Yes, R, you must see that old classic!

Hugs to both of you from Heidi

New Puzzle. Fragrance only.

Haiti
Oh goody, a puzzle that features my favorite letter!

I think it might be

Port-Au-Prince
by Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab

as it is the capital of Haiti, and the capital letter was emphasized in the puzzle.

???

OK, I'm trying to figure out how the new forum layout works exactly. Looks fresh but some things have changed a bit

Interesting puzzle Ken! I think, Haunani, that your answer might be very warm already. Just to be sure, let me try Chai Tea by A Zaftig Woman - which sounds pretty much the same phonetically.
Very good guess Guus but...I am sorry for the late reply. Haunani you are exactly correct! Port -Au-Prince by BPAL IS the Capital of Haiti and the correct answer. Whoopie!

Hi Mr. K and BrothaG! Yay -- just my kind of puzzle!!!

Hi Ken

I'm quite sure we're looking at a movie scene... but unfortunately I have no clue which movie or actor. He does look familiar somehow. Just to give it a try: Paperback by Demeter?
You are quite correct Bro. It is a movie scene from a movie a number of years back. Not Paperback though.

hint: Appropriate fragrance for Basenotes around this time.
That is Gregory Peck....love his films.

Ken, I think I know you well enough to know in what direction your thoughts went, so the choice of film was Roman Holiday or The Million Pound Note (Man with a Million), since 'Profumum Roma. Olibanum' was the millionth post on Basenotes today

Turns out it is a still from The Million Pound Note so my guess is 1 Million by Paco Rabanne.

Congratulations Basenotes and posters but most of all, congratulations to Grant

Ken, please don't change your signature too soon. It is so beautiful and moving...I love it.

Well Done Riannon!

1 Million by Paco Rabanne is it and the still is of Gregory Peck from The Million Pound Note as you stated. It was indeed intended as a double tribute, both to the 'Profumum Roma. Olibanum' post via Peck and Hepburn in that wonderful movie Roman Holiday and Basenotes/Grant through Peck's Million Pound Note. It seemed to tie the two together nicely.

I can't get anything by you!

As for my signature, it will stand as is for a while You may also enjoy this early version of the song "I Remember You" (as well as wonderful versions by both Dianna Krall and Nat King Cole on YouTube if you feel like searching..)

Thank you! Very nice puzzle and a most fitting tribute to one million posts. I only regret that I could not find a fragrance called 'Grant'

I did not know that song! As always this thread is a place where you discover new and interesting things. I think I loved Nat King Cole's version most http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMGqtEW4FZA

Good night from Europe!
