what to wear to an observant jewish wedding?

A friend of mine went on the Birth Right trip and came back a profoundly changed person. he's been back to Israel a number of times since, and is now, all of a sudden, marrying his Israeli girlfriend ("she's not pregnant, we're just religious" he explained over the phone to me).

If this were a religious catholic wedding, I'd know just what to wear. Having been an altar boy for years, I'd know to look for something that would synch up with the florals, the cool marble of the altar and the pillars, the columns of dusty sunglight overhead, and incense incense incense. I'm less familiar with the aromas associated with a Synagogue. Anybody have any pointers?

Eau Sauvage? Dunno -- don't think there is such a thing as a kashrut fragrance, let alone treyf. (But I could be wrong -- the ultra-Orthodox ARE really careful about buying only approved soaps and detergents.)

In any case, you'll just be there as a wedding guest -- it's not like you're gonna be mohel at a bris.

I'd go with something understated and elegant, and ES certainly fits that bill, as does Hammam Bouquet and as do (LIGHTLY APPLIED) New York or Bois de Portugal.
