Prada Infusion d'Iris - First impression

I just got a sample at NM San Francisco, the SA claimed that NM has it "exclusively" until 2008. So far, it's a lovely, natural smelling Iris, a bit on the femme side, opens with a light citrus note, some pepper. Very subtle for a designer fragrance. It feels a bit safe, though.

I loved the way it opened up - way more than I expected it to. Nice vegetal iris notes, slightly effervescent and a little saltiness (if I remember?). However, this iris note, got quickly powdery on me (just like Dior Homme and Hiris do) and then I wanted to scrub it off.

When I told another SA this (later on) she tried to tell me that this was the incense in the drydown. But no, it was a prominent powdery iris note, I'm sure of it.

The only iris scent I can wear is Iris 39, by Le Labo. But I keep trying others...

Yes, it turned into powder after 20 minutes. Oh, well......

I managed to get a sample yesterday. And my first thoughts where a softer Dior Homme, more powdery. I find Hiris too sweet.

Neiman Marcus. Or a Prada boutique.

Bought it on the spot - They say its a light, clean, fragrance but on me, thankfully - its a bit darker and mysterious. I love it. I'm actually wearing it now on my left arm with Hiris on my right. Hiris will always be my favorite Iris fragrance but Infusion is really lovely. I find there to be a prominent soap note in Infusion that immediately makes me think of Prada for Men, which I hate. But I really like Infusion and I think its a perfect transition fragrance going from the summer into the fall.

I agree; that soapiness turns me off a little as well (which is why i tend to reach for my regular Prada Amber over the Amber PH) and I too found Infusion to be a lot more similar to Prada Amber PH than I originally anticipated. Overall, though, I'm really enjoying it. I like Dior Homme, too, but find it hard to wear in hot weather. This one, though, will do nicely.

True, Dior Homme is terribly fickle in hot weather and I can't really imagine wearing Infusion past November here in the Northeast. But who knows - once it does cool down, maybe Infusion will wear really well and It'll surprise me - wouldn't be the first time that a scent has done that...
