Random Acts of Kindness

One of my greatest thrills is to see other people happy. I particularly enjoy seeing folks lending a hand or support in a time of need or giving financially or giving of one's time to enhance or touch someone else's life.

I have to say that I have been blessed beyond words with family and friends who have been there with all of the above written. Sometimes these people connected in my life do things out of the ordinary, and sometimes for no particular reason and knock my socks off.

A while ago a very good friend of mine came to my office and said...."You are stressed-You need a trip." So in a matter of weeks she had purchased me a ticket and her and I traveled to upstate New York to visit some of her friends. Well I tell you-that weekend was amazing. Some of these friends were Chefs and we were wisked to some of the nicest restaurants I have been in for a stretch. I love Thai food and we went to this restaurant in Queens-well all I can say is that the meal will go down in history in my mind. The camaraderie that weekend was electric and when I came back home I was a new person.

Today a friend of mind showed up at my office with lunch (I was hungry as well...LOL) out of the blue. It was totally unexpected and I said "Why did you do this?" The answer I was given back was..."That's what friends do." My day was made. It was so refreshing and was just what I needed.

I could go on and on and on..............So Basenotes Family....Would you share with me some Random Acts of Kindness that have happened to you on ANY level. Some may have changed your life. I would greatly appreciate any imput.

Enjoy your Life,

Otto

My stepfather sent me money to get new flooring, because my husband is in construction, it's very uncertain right now and our carpet is in really bad shape. Since we're going to lay hard flooring ourselves (pets) I might have enough left over for a new bed. ((hugs))

And I sent some bath and body products to one of the troops in Afghanistan through treatsfortroops.com, just got a thank you note back, she was thrilled. They have some nice things for men and women, including Burt's Bees. That made me feel really good.

Today I went to my hair stylist for a cut & color. I had decided I didn't want black hair anymore (after 8 months of dying it...my hair is really short so when she'd trim the sides & back my natural color would show through so i had to keep dying it). Instead, I wanted a deep brown with a red hue. Well to start off she bleached my hair to try to get all the black out that she could. OMG it looked so funny. My natural hair that had grown in was like a highlighter yellow color, & the black parts just faded a little. She put two colors in, one for my roots to darken them up, & one on the rest of my hair to give it the brown with reddish hue. It turned out AWFUL. My natural color had now turned a copper color & the rest of my hair basically stayed the same. She had to go to a party with her sister, but said that she'd come back in a couple hours & fix my hair. In the meantime, I hung out @ the mall & tried to avoid weird stares. Then I went back to the salon, & she dyed my hair one more time. It still doesn't match PERFECTLY, but it's really not that noticeable unless you're staring hard @ my hair. And, it's darker than I wanted it to be, but it still looks good.

Anyways, between the all the colorings & the cut, I spent about 6 hours @ the salon. She charged me NOTHING. Even for the cut. She said that she was chalking today up as an experiment & she was sorry for keeping me there so long. I made her charge me SOMETHING for the cut so she charged me $10, & I gave her a $20 tip. But just the fact that she was willing to do all that work for FREE, just because my hair was being finnicky really meant something to me. She's an amazing woman!
