What Would Gertrude Stein Have Worn?

I almost named this thread "What would Brian Boitano wear?", but then I realized that those who aren't fans of South Park might be more than a little lost.

Seriously . . . what WOULD Gertrude Stein have worn? (I love these celebrity frag threads.) Bear in mind, btw, that both she and Alice B. alike would have delighted in this thread being on either the men's board, or the women's board, or both.

I'm leaning toward Habanita for both gals, but it's perhaps a tad femme for Gert. Maybe Habanita or En Avion for Alice B. and Tabac Blond for Gertrude? Or perhaps Cuir de Russie? (Very exotic, very leathery, very period.) I first thought of bay rum for the Oakland Oak, but that's really far too bourgeois and generic a frag for either of them. (It's just that Ol' Gertie makes me think of shaving, I guess.)

My other half just wryly suggested Cannabis Santal (remember Alice's famous brownies?), but, hey, they didn't have it back then. Oh, well.

As a litgeek gay chick who dresses in men's clothes and loves France, I feel qualified to guess Yatagan. Okay, I just like the thought of her wearing Yatagan because I'm loving it right now. Otherwise, I absolutely agree with Tabac Blond and Cuir de Russie.

Caron's Rose, is a rose, is a rose.

howsabout Bandit? only slightly anachronistic, but with the lesbian note to the forefront.

Bandit? Hm . . .maybe while whipping Alice?

Considering she said that America is my country and Paris my hometown. I thought of Jicky, but then I remembered one of her other quotes:

" In France one must adapt oneself to the fragrance of a urinal."

I vote for Kouros.

Cheers,

Mario

Had it been around then, she might have chosen

my first thought was Tabac Blond, I think Habanita is a good one, too,
but my vote goes with

Cocktail by Jean Patou. dry, witty, elegant, strong

I'll take a guess that she may have worn Knize Ten and possibly shopped at their stores

Patchouli.
