upcoming Tom of Finland by ELO

how "excited" are you about this? what olfactive notes would honor best the stunning homoerotic and S&M world of Tom of Finland?

I 'm very curious about it and hope this fragrance rendition will be better than Putain des Palaces/Hotel Slut wich didn 't strike me as "call girl" at all. too spicy for a high-class escort, the leather and cosmetic notes, rice powder and lipstick weren 't very beautiful, I wanted the most sophisticated sexual perfume, not some spiced leathery pot-pourri.
Secretions Magnifiques also disappointed me, even though it 's been praised by Luca Turin over the discovery of some "molecule" (if you 're into molecules and very technical olfactory stuff you might find it "interesting" lol) this fragrance stinks and it 's not even sexual and raunchy, it 's just an olfactory "exercice de style".

Can you post a link or something where we can find out about this one? Sounds like fun.

How could it ever smell like what we really fantasize about?

Electric Light Orchestra? Sorry--just realized you meant Etat Libre d'Orange--for a very marginal niche/novelty house, not sure that everyone would get the ELO reference--or is it just me?

castoreum
costus roots
ambrette seeds
ambergris
musks

indolic florals

Pigeon, are they just terrible? I have written him before and he was very kind. However, I have never smelled any of his perfumes.

I always thought that the type of men Tom of Finland drew went to places that had a sign at the door stating: No Fragrances Allowed.

The Etat Libre website says it's coming out (as it were) on Feb 1 2008.

http://www.etatlibredorange.com/

I found Tom of Finland reinterpreted as a classic french copper print toile to be the wickedest decorating idea of the decade, but I'm clearly not a well woman.

Must sniff this, but I wouldn't buy blindfolded without a safe word.

Ok, boys. It's a reason to live through the winter. We've gotta see what this one smells like!

Ok boys and girls prepare to be thoroughly jealous. It so happens I went to the artists' reception for the opening of the TOF art fair this year (at which my friend Palanca was honored with a special award). I espied some 5 -10 ml spray vials displayed on a silver tray and they turned out to have Givaudan labels, they were trial samples for the Tom of Finland scent. Durk Dehner said I could take away whatever dupes there were from a box full of these small atomizers so I ended up with:

Tom's Passion 54a and b which is kind of vaguely in the line of himalaya/bois de sepia, with latex?

Tuoco a sort of leather n latex mix I think

Latex - self explanatory

Bel Hom - the most interesting of the ones I was able to get sort of a bracing minty leather that morphs to. .. well I will have to test it again, cause I forget right now but it has some evolution which I can tell you a bit about later

some vials I didn't get my hands on included:

My Vetiver (named after 'My Hustler' perhaps?)
Steamy Sweat
and. . . .

well. .. .

the last one is, I was told, the one they picked, and I suppose it would be terribly indiscreet of me to name it. . .

hehe

Palanca and I camped out on this couch and people kept saying how cute we looked in our cozy spot together and about 10 different people took pictures of us, here is one!

(I was wearing Cuir Mauresque with Tar incidentally...)

I like some ELO perfumes:
Secretion Magnifiques is an olfatory travel, but still that feminine touch, can be weared but just for fun.
Vierges et Toreros s lovely.
I would love that this one finished the "unisex range".
We want something masculine, please!.
I'm going to mail them and see if I can get some info...

I thought Eau du Coq was out already !

thanks for the news!
