I just noticed Champaca and Patchouli, the new LUXE Series scents from Comme des Garcons finally made their way over to our side of the pond - via Luckyscent:

Champaca
Patchouli

I just ordered some samples...will post my reviews once I sniff 'em.

Mike a.k.a. The CdG 'ho'

p.s. - is it just me, or does the Champaca bottle look like that Q-bert video game I used to play in the arcades, in black..?

OHHH..come on now.

"A perfume that seems almost impossible to have been blended by a mere human".

You can't put a price tag on that.

Anyone into a bottle split?, 4 or 5 ways ....I wonder about that different take on Patchouli.

After seeing this price, people can finally stop bitching about my Clive Christian X.

Looks just like the Atari 2600 joy stick!

Judging by the descriptions, these have to be the most complex, intoxicating, glorious fragrances ever created. Can't wait for reviews on these.

Lots o' hype on these fragrances. I'll weigh in after I've spent some time with my samples...

Prices usually don't bother me, but the way I like to spray, this one scares me. I don't want to like it because I might just have to have it. mikeperez please get back with us

I stopped in the scent bar yesterday, just had to see what CdG was up to, as they are one of my favorite houses. Although the Patchouli is not my cup of tea, it does lack the initial blast of dirty hippie which I was expecting. It was much softer, although after it minute it did begin to take the shape of the note I am more familiar with. Musky, dry, heavy ... to me certainly not worth nearly $300.
On the other hand, I was impressed with the Champaca. I admit it is not a note I was familiar with. However, it emerged as the far more interesting of the two. Sweet, fresh (green), almost fruity (like an apple), and clean, it is a beautiful floral not unlike an orange blossom. It was intriguing enough to get a sample to go ... I don't usually wear florals, but thought I'd give this a try. I'll let you know how it turns out.

The Patchouli is a heavy hitter. Dark, woody, and a tiny bit gourmand, with a healthy dose of opopanax in the middle. I'm not sure what I think of it yet, but it sure does pack a whallop!

OK, I've worn this for another hour now, and it's started to remind me strongly of somethng else. What is it?

Ah, yes. It's Mechant Loup. It dries down into Mechant Loup. I don't know how many basenotes (if any,) they share, but the resemblance is remarkable. I love Mechant Loup. Mechant Loup costs $85. CdG Patchouli Luxe costs $285. I think I'll stick with Mechant Loup.
