One year ago I was looking for more information about an almost unknown fragrance I had just bought. Even the seller had hardly any info. But the scent was wonderful and so was the bottle.

Maria Amalia by Morris

A lovely Italian woman came to the rescue and went on a perfume hunt in Milan, digging up every detail and ending up buying the same EDP

Little did we know that this fragrance would bring us a deep friendship. Thank you for this year, my dearest Lady in Black.

Head notes: Cardamom balsam, lemon peel, ginger roots
Heart notes: May rose, cinnamon leaves, nutmeg powder
Base notes: Myrrh and incense, rosewood and patchouli.

Grapefruit, green mandarin, neroli, white flowers, sandalwood, green notes.

Hové Rue Royal. Don't know why there are no reviews for this at MUA. No notes given except to mention it contains musk. Huh? At any rate, closest thing it resembles from my wardrobe is Rochas Femme.

I'm testing Guerlain Attrape-Couer / Guet-Apens this morning, thanks to the ever so generous Lady_in_Black.

I'm not sure if this is the vintage or the re-issue It's lovely and oh so lady-like ... wonder what the guys at The Home Depot will think of it?

Base notes: cocoa beans, dark chocolate

George Sand by MPG

this reminds me of a little shop on the rue de la Bucherie in the Marais district that sells carpets, jewelry, furniture, clothing and all manner of trinkets from Afghanistan. Something about the woods and spices that linger amongst these objects that makes me think of this perfume. Nice. Warm, woody spice with a touch of sweet, not too much.

Top Note: Lemon, bergamot

Heart Note: Patchouli, rose, amber

Base Note: Musk, Mysore sandalwood

Riannon, dear friend, how apt that it was this noble lady from the past with a rebellious, independent character, but with a big, passionate heart who was the "reason for it all"! Thanks for remembering!! And Maria Amalia remains one of the best kept perfume secrets....

Shades, that's the Guet-Apens 1999 LE you're testing. It came in the beautiful blue glass lantern splash bottle with a clear stopper

I am once again in ELdO Eau de Protection .... just love it to pieces.

beachroses - that sounds wonderful

Today I'm testing Le Baiser du Dragon. I've had the decant since April, but I was unreasonably holding a grudge against it for leaking and making the labels on my other decants all sticky and strange. And... I like it! It's warm and a little dusty - is that the vetiver?

Bvlgari Voile de Jasmine.

I'm not getting on well with scents at the moment unless they are gentle.

Today is probably the coolest day temperatures in Miami that we've had all year! I am welcoming it with open arms. Two fall favorites today:

Tea for Two by L'Artisan Parfumeur (from my stowed away sample...I cannot remember who sent me this?) and tonight the last few drops of my Musc Ravageur by Frederic Malle (also from a stowed away sample from the Malle shop in Paris).

Prada, which fits today very well.

But, for some reason, I wish I had Prescriptives Calyx, which I haven't even smelled in over 10 years. I used to wear it all the time when it first came out. I need to smell it again soon.
Tovah, how do you feel, darling?

I was thinking about Calyx the other night -- that green bitterness will haunt one, that's for sure. If someone has any shareable amounts, can I please have a drop?

SotD was Aoud Queen Roses by Montale Paris. I felt it fit perfectly for a casual performance of Orphee et Eurydice by my favourite opera kids, Liederwolfe. I haven't yet smelled Black Aoud and I feel that I should sample it before I go in for a full bottle of Aoud Queen Roses, since it seems like they would be rather similar. But I don't know if I can resist or wait. I love that leathery, medicinal aoud with the heavy, dusky, potent roses.
Tonight I will wear Bois Farine to bed for warm, cuddly dreams.
