Compliment grabbers

Thread Starter
As a more definitive answer to the most popular colognes in the compliments department to put it to rest a little (and to help in choosing my wardrobe I'll admit!) I went through relevant threads and far and away the winners in order were GIT, MI, M7, Kouros, Issey, Rive Gauche, D&G and SMW. So there you have it

I think you'll probably agree that there aren't too many surprises there, but I think there are plenty that do well and aren't nearly as popular. Some got a pretty respectible showing when you compare how many less reviews there are and I have no doubt stuff like AdG gets marked way down! So I was wondering what people think are most liked, popularity of the fragrance here aside. So that includes all of the safe frags that many wouldn't be smelt dead wearing

I may have misunderstood your question, but I believe you are asking what male fragrances I think are the most generally liked by everyone in the world - not necessarily by me or the people here on Basenotes.

I can't speak for anyone else, I do not have access to industry sales figures and I suspect that what is "most liked" changes from one area to another - probably from one street to the next in some places.

That said (and without any justification at all), my guesses would be:

Old Spice
Azzaro pour Homme
Polo Sport
Aqua Di Gio pour Homme
Grey Flannel

Of course - I could be wrong!

I've said this before and I'll say it again. Purple Label is by far my most complimented scent. I wear this once or twice a month and it never fails to bring a compliment.
Armani Code Pour Homme, Gio Pour Homme, Antidote by Viktor & Rolf and Zanzibar by Van Cleef and Arpels.
I have received compliments when wearing Angel Men, GIT, Erolfa and Allure Pour Homme by Chanel.
