How often do you go without fragrance?

I''m just curious how often you choose to forego fragrance for a whole day or longer. And what fuels that choice - do you ever get sick of fragrance in general? or perhaps you just won't wear them to certain occasions or places, etc.

I tend not to wear anything on my workout days, as I workout after work and can't handle anything but fresh air while slaving away on a bike or treadmill or while hitting the weights. I do occasionally spray afterwards but typically go to bed within a few hours and so it is rare. I work third shift and then work out in the mornings, so those few hours between work and sleep I rarely see anyone else as they are all at work themselves.

So, when and why (and how often) do you go without fragrance?

I only wear a fragrance if I'm going out of the house. If I'm staying in all day I see no reason to wear one.

Rarely would not have a fragrance.. I usually put my SOTD on whether or not I'm going out, and if I work out come the evenings they're usually faded away..

If I'm unwell though I usually forego fragrances..

I never go without if I can help it.
The only time I MAY do without is if Im nauseous or sick to the stomach due to a bug or virus.
Never.

I never go out without wearing a fragrance.
Never.

Unless I'm sick and then it's just a matter of not being able to drag myself over to where they are.

I wear more when I'm alone than when I go out.

Essentially never. Perhaps if I have a cold and can't smell, I'll refrain - though even the thought of having it on, as well as the application ritual itself, can be positive. At home I tend to use even more - as I like to experiment and wear several frags at once. Sure I like it when others enjoy how I smell, but, bluntly, I'm in this purely for my own enjoyment.

I shouldn't have given the impression that I never wear scents for myself. Heck, I wear Salvador Dali pour homme, and that's definitely for me . There are times and days where I just don't feel like a scent though, tbh. Every once in a while going for a walk and smelling the crisp autumn air or whatever is infinitely more enjoyable than a fragrance.

I always try to wear something, but in summer , or some summer holiday destination , I sometimes go without when the weather is hot. Sun and perfume is not good for your skin, so they say. I alway use deo though.

I can't remember the last day i wasn't wearing a fragrance.
Infact there are days i wear two different scents in a day. I look for reasons to wear a perfume or change what i am wearing.

Then there are times when i spray something on the back of my palm just because i am craving for some particular fragrance.
Somedays i think i shouldn't wear any fragrance because i feel i should rest my nose, even on those days i end up wearing Mugler Cologne or Millesime Imperial which are easy on the nose.

I think for me, fragrance has become a part of my 'attire' and i don't see it changing, atleast in the near future.

At home I normally only wear After shave.
But I ALWAYS wear fragrance to go out!

So you wear them purely for others as opposed to for your own enjoyment as well? I certainly don't like going a day without one. When i do, it always feels like something is missing.

I wonder if my attitude would be different if my wardrobe was larger. It's a bit, well, perhaps not one dimensional but a couple of my scents (Dali pour homme, grey flannel, bmen) are scents I only wear on particular occasions. I need more day to day scents.
Sometimes if I'm staying home all day, I might not use anything and just give my nose a rest. If I'm really ill - as in sick-enough-to-have-to-stay-home - then I also would not use anything.

But otherwise... nope, can't think of a day when I've gone out and not used at least a very light fragrance. Not since I started using 'em, anyways
post #15 of 48
I wear fragrance every day. Regardless of my plans, who I will see, etc. As soon as I get out of the shower and dry off, scent comes on. That's just how it is.

Last week i spent 3 days without any scent, cause i forgot to bring some with me, i felt very odd.

Once in a while I take a day off, this is rare. Maybe when and if I am bored with my options, but even then I sometimes stop in a store at lunch time if I am in New York, and I try something on. But I do take a break for a day or two every now and then. Or if, as Ebear said, I have a cold or don't feel well I wouldn't likely wear a fragrance. If I am home all day I still usually put something on as I wear scents more for me and not necessarily for others.

I can't remember the last time when I went out inscented. Must be ten or more years ago. When at home all day, I rarely use fragrance, but at times I do. Depends on my mood.

Only for work, part of my "wardrobe". I have stated before my SO is sensitive to smell and she does not want the kids to be exposed of the smell (how ever pleasant they are....) either. I only wear fragances after I leave the house carrying a bottle and/or decant in my briefcase. If the scent has excellent longevity, I sometime have to do the unthinkable.... that is to resort to wiping it off with a wet napkin to tone it down a bit. Of course, if I am sick, no scent for me either.
very rarely, mostly only if i forget...
Never
Do not go out of my house without a scent , no scent if I am sick in bed, and that is about the only time I can think of not wearing anything
post #24 of 48
Very rarely I will not apply anything if I am home all day and I don't shower because I'm cleaning or sick. With the exception of those 2 things I will always wear something on my sking to make me smell delicious.
On a busy day I may not get to my first scent till afternoon and If I'm totally beat I have been known to forget a new scent for bed. I also skip when I'm likely to be decanting a bunch.
Whenever I'm not working or socialising, I usually don't bother - it's great to give the nose a rest every so often.
I've had the flu for nine days and I was in no mood for perfume. Feeling somewhat better now and wore DSH Sandalo Inspiritu today.
NEVER- not even if I'm sick.
at least one day a week i take a break ... no use in overdoing a good thing!

No, I enjoy them, but it's not something I need to enjoy while sitting alone. I also enjoy wearing nice clothes, but if I'm not going out of the house I see no reason in wearing a suit.
I only do so if for some reason I forget. Even then, I will just use it as an opportunity to drop in somewhere and test something out.
Never! I'll even swap frags during the day after a shower. I always wear one during the day and the night.

I'm the exact same way. After I take a shower I always spray something on. Even when I'm sick, I use something very light after I shower.
Cannot remember the last time I did not wear a fragrance. So many different scents to try that I do not believe I would ever be bored with them.
I never wear a frag when I'm sick.

Occasionally I'll just put on an essential oil blend or something I made myself, just to wear something simple and give my nose a rest. Sometimes just a dab of sandalwood oil on my wrists and neck is all I put on.
I always wear fragrances nowadays, hell, I wear something when I go to bed, and/or I spray it on my pillow.
Once or twice a year when I get the flu -- I seldom have the energy to care. Even then, I'm as likely as not to spritz something on.

Also, whenever I'm around my friend Sara up in northern California and my friend Annie here in OKC. Both are seriously allergic to most fragrances (no, they're not faking), and I try to keep that in mind when I'm going to be around either one of them.

Otherwise, expect to find me "anointed" with the frag (or frags) of the day.
I'm another one that doesn't go without. It's always on, right after the shower with the deodorant.
Only if I am sick, and even then I usually try and make something work - sometimes with disasterous results. That can be a good way to make yourself hate a fragrance through association.
gah, i'm sick now, and totally can't deal with wearing cologne. grr
post #45 of 48
When I am unwell. Occasionally I get overwhelmed with options and can't decide, defer the decision until later in the day, then forget. I usually remember again by the evening.
Like many other members...
Never! Except those days that I'm sick...
Seems to be the general consensus, not wearing a scent only when feeling sick...

Funerals.

Last week when I went to get a cat scan to see if I had liver or kidney cancer (I don't) or any other visit to the Dr's office which might presage doom.

Also, when I was audited by the IRS in 2001

Guess I'm a bit superstitious. . .

( On the other hand I wear Himalaya in light quantities for Mass, and Sandalwood for a sesshin at a Zen Buddhist Temple.)

Cheers,

Mario
