Top 100 Rejects

Thread Starter
As a complement to the current "How does your wardrobe compare to the top 100 reviewed fragrances list?" post, I offer:

How many of the "Top 100" reviewed fragrances on the Basenotes review page have you tried and then decided you didn't want to own?

For me:

Of numbers 1 to 25: 12
Of numbers 25 to 50: 10
Of numbers 50 to 100: 13

That's 35% that I've decided against. At least for now - I reserve the right to remain fickle.

This is more my speed...

1-25: 23
25-50: 23
50-100: 47

Good extension Vibert - I like this one too!

In the top 25: 9

In the top 50: 13

In the top 100: 21 total

21% of the top 100 will not find a home with me!

12 out of 100
The others I either like or have.

As a coda - the percentage of non-keepers from the total number I've tried among the "Top 100."

35 out of 39, for a 90% rejection rate.

Of the 61 that I haven't tried there are only 6 on my "to try" list right now.

The raw data:

1-25: 9
26-50: 8
50-100: 11

However, the truth is that some I don't have simply because they've had their day. I mean, who still buys Drakkar Noir? I had a bottle, used it, liked it at the time, but never bought it again. Some, though, I know from reputation and have no interest in meeting them personally. Actually, that pretty well defines the other 60-or-so fragrances.

This is how my wardrobe comes out counting full bottles:

numbers 1-25: 3
25-50: 3
51-75: 2
76-100: 1

Same idea, slightly different statistics (and some detail):

6 scents: Never tried, on my current "to try" list:
M7
Green Irish Tweed
Eau Sauvage
Himalaya
Cuiron Pour Homme
Chanel Pour Monsieur

15 scents: Never tried, and in no hurry:
A*Men / Angel Men
Dolce & Gabbana pour Homme
Silver Mountain Water
Angel
Millésime Impérial
212 Men
Allure Homme Sport
Baldessarini
Original Vetiver
Michael for Men
Echo
Crave
H.M.
Herrera for Men
Givenchy pour Homme

9 scents: Like it, but don't own it (yet):
Fahrenheit
Rive Gauche pour Homme (also interested in, but never tried, the "intense" version)
Antaeus
Habit Rouge
Égoïste / L'Égoïste
Voleur de Roses
Tabaróme Millésime
JHL
Ambre Sultan

The remaining 59 scents are ones that I've tried and decided are not for me

That's my thread !

First 25 :
15, or 60 %
Next 25 : 16, or 64 %
Next 50 : 37, or 74 %

Tendency : growing...

These results almost exactly mirror those for the number that I do have.

Of numbers 1 to 25: 10
Of numbers 25 to 50: 10
Of numbers 50 to 100: 21

That's 41% of the top-100 reviewed that I've tried and decided against.

This leaves 23/100 that I've yet to even try adequately and make a decision.

I guess I'm considered fickle too!

I've tried them all and only 4 made the grade.

I guess that makes a 96% disapproval rating.

First I couldn't believe that. But a quick look at your wardrobe made me change my mind - vow!

Excluding the women's scents on the Top 100, there are three I haven't tried - JHL, Geir, Musk Ravageur.

If the price were low enough, there are none that I would reject - though my wife objects strongly to any notion of my buying Fleur du Male.

Kurkdjian's perfumes seem to suit me just fine. That's one of four I still want from those roaring 100 ! But then - I'm not married.
