I'm new to this game so excuse my posts if they are ignorant.
I like my fragrance to announce my presence and waft across the room...

:-)

So, the best perfumes for this are? (Please list both male/female/unisex as i am partial to all scents)

Thanks!

There is a thread on the main (female discussion) area that I started some time ago about this topic. I don't know how to do searches myself, but if you do, you should find it, it's a very long thread, and there are many really great suggestions on it. If you don't find it, let me know, and I'll see if I can locate it for you. Welcome to Basenotes by the way! :-)

I'm pretty new too, so I can't name many. But A*Men (Angel for Men) by Terry Mugler is explosive. It just keeps on going.
From what I understand it's quite popular, and we don't wanna smell just like every other guy out there. But I can't remember smelling it anywhere before, which is why I have no problem using it (Here everyone just uses Cool Water, Acqua di Gio, Hugo Boss and various Lacoste scents). So I guess it depends on where you live.

DEFINITELY POISON INDEED! I remember spilling some on myself as a small child, and it took what seemed like DAYS to rub off. I will never forget that scent. (Can't say I'm very fond of it, either.)

Hope that helps.

The 3 I know that are both and rank very highly are: Dior Homme, Chergui, and Fumerie Turque

Kind of an old thread but here I go.
Joop a bomb. It's so smelly It gave me a headache in 12 sec. Seriously.
Tea Rose. It is pretty much a one note perfume it is very nice but... that thing is monstrous. It should have a sign of radioactive, bio-hazardous or something like that. Anyone should only use half a srpay, and at 10 dollars a bottle, it should last for decades.

For females, Stella eau de parfum.

Just one spray lasts for the whole day and the rose and amber notes linger throughout the night. I once did two sprays and my friends could smell it from downstairs and throughout the whole house! I don't usually like heavy, sensual scents.. but somehow addicted to this scent.

Quorum by Puig....Sillage BOMB that goes, and goes....and goes....and goes....and goes.
Versace The Dreamer.....still getting compliments 16 hours later.
Ungaro III....comes on with a bang (but ends a few hours later in a whimper)
Jovan Ginseng NRG....this one doesn't come on with a bang, but has good sillage and this EDC has a longer life than most EDP's on me....a wonderful value too.
Finally, Preferred Stock by Coty....if you can get past the harsh top notes, this one dries down into a beautiful warm fragrance that lasts all day and projects class.

Oh man, Opium definitely sticks around, holy crap! <=0O *surprised expression*

Let's not forget: Black Orchid by Tom Ford.

Released as a womens fragrance, yet many men (including me) wear and love it. One to two sprays will last hours and hours.

Another that comes to mind easily is Black Aoud by Montale.

Just about anything by Thierry Mugler male or female has decent sillage.
Fahrenheit
Hanae Mori HM EDP
Le Male

About enhancing sillage and longevity: apply to warmer areas of the body and use jojoba oil? I JUST learned today that the back of the neck is better for applications than the front of the neck. Are wrists a good spot? Chest? Arm..pits..? Clothing is always an option.

sorry stupid newbe question what does silage mean ?
Veggieforlife,

Sillage is a French word. In basic fragrance terms, sillage is how the scent impacts and fills the area around you. Specifically, how far away someone can smell your fragrance, how long in lingers in a room after you leave, etc. Think of a boat making a wake in the water or a jet leaving a vapor trail. Both spread out and linger for a while. That's my basic definition of sillage.

talking about longevity, i bought a perfume which turned fake or imitation perfume, couldn't get rid of the smell until the next day and 2 showers with pine scent. has anyone tried gasoline? just kidding! yesterday i bought Lanvin avant garde, i couldn't smell it! day before i received D&G the one, same thing: noo smell! something wrong with my nose! so i tried thierry muggler a*men (with pimento picture on the box) AWESOME

Agree that the longevity on this is much better than the other two you mentioned.
