Your Most Compliment Generating Colognes

Thread Starter
I know there are a few colognes I really like but people don't seem to notice (or comment at least) and there are some I like, but not love, that gets a good number of compliments.

Like, when I was in high school, a few years ago, I had some Abercrombie cologne and girls (high school girls) liked it but I wasn't a big fan of it. On the other hand I really like Burburry London but no one ever really says anything about it.

And then there is GIT that I love and others also love...

So good or bad, what are your most compliment generating colognes?

The only scents that have generated compliments from american people is Aqua Velva (5) and Givenchy BLue Label (2). I guess the people I hang with are not very open in that aspect.

I will agree with lighninrod. I get a lot of compliments from Lolita Lempicka. In all honesty I think that most people are not experienced with fragrances. Most people would say "I like curve or Acqua di gio". It seems to me that most people like the usual common scents. Most being citrus smelling without a lot of depth.

Right now, it's also Black Orchid for me. I dared to wear it in the office, expecting "OMG what is that smell?", instead I got a lot of "mmmmmmm who smells nice?!" It's a bit sweet at first, but I love the dry down, and so seems to be the people who smells it on me! :-)

I think Marc Jacobs is fabulous. I was pretty thrilled when I finally did get a compliment on it. Not bad - as I don't wear it that often.

Yeah.. I loved it when I tested it on paper and bought it based on that experience.. I still like it, but the only problem I have with it is that it evolves to smell just like any other Hugo Boss cologne out there... (except Baldessarini.. that's in a different league altogether )

Yes, I had the same experience. The top and even the middle are quite good, but somehow it turns in the end to the too well famous Boss notes. Sorry for that.

From my sniff test, it does indeed remind me of both Baldessarini Ambre and Baldessarini. A "soft orange afterglow".
