Morning!

Dior Addict for me today it turned really really sweet on me around midday... never had that happen before :S

I'm jumping the gun here (still Tuesday in my zone), but I wanted to thank you all for the birthday greetings. I've been wearing Divines and failing to shrink my test bins.

Cozy snuggly thoughts, especially to the bunch with the grippe. And love, strength and prayers to Lievje and Erm.

Oooh happy birthday, Kyra.

Mitsouko today. I am getting fed up of these dark mornings! (Just glad I don't live in Finland...)
Shocking for me today. In all its honeyed gloriousness.

Flaring nostrils.....I can smell again :bounce:

Ah, the agony of waiting, but.....here she comes, finally....

Spiritueuse Double Vanille

Ah, uhm, yes....opening the bottle and a blast of boozy notes wafts out
Is that just me or does anyone else get this as well?

And then....well...vanilla I am afraid that my nose is not finely tuned enough yet to discover other notes.
Oh well, I got the 'Spiritueuse' and the 'Vanille'. Will wait patiently for the rest to emerge.

Easy on the spirit and on the nose, but with a good coffee note and excellent logevity
Trussardi Inside
I have a special appointment tonight.....with a very special scent. I was longing for hugs yesterday and I got a truckful from my fellow BN sweeties during the day! And yesterday eve, a small package was waiting for me at home bearing a tender, warm and precious hug ...

I am clearing my palate today...going fragrance free for the first time in a long while.
It's a LITTLE scary, now, but I'll manage.

Trusting that "No news is good news" and that Lievje's boy is on the mend...

The geraniums are blooming on the porch railings and the leftover birds are singing their little heads off. Welcome sweet Springtime when it should be scarf and mitten weather. Reached reflexively for the divine La Rose Jacqueminot (thanks to the divine Zibs I snagged a fresh bottle off EBay - the previous one [at five times the price] was/is a little off)....having a Christmas lunch with one of my oldest dearest friends (just like La Rose!).....

Sampling M. Storer's Stephanie today - Quarry
post #25 of 55
Wide variety of fragrance out there today.
After wearing the powdery, confectionary comfort of Guet Apens yesterday, I felt like exploring the iris note more today.
Dipping into Quarry Joy's Bag O' Toys, I come up with two iris scents: Editions de Frederic Malle Iris Poudre and Yves Rocher Iris Noir.
Initially, I like the Iris Noir better because of the fruity rose and patchouli (always an attractive combination for me.) These notes hint at YL Rose Absolu, one of my favorites, but Iris Noir veers away from the sweetness of that one and moves along the border of the more austere iris. It still is sweet and floral for an iris, though.
Over time, I believe the Iris Poudre will wear better. It is has more of the powdery rootiness that I have come to associate with the iris, still sweet, but more classic, more straightforward.
Have a good day, everyone, and thanks, Quarry.

I definitely get a boozy note from SDV... almost feel as though I could get drunk off the sillage at first!
Oh, MikePerez, how lovely! Is it wonderful?

After a few days in different scents from my (already alarmingly large) decant collection (Lonestar Memories, 24 Fouberg), I'm back in my beloved, comfortable, creamy Fracas...ahhh

Ah, good to hear! I was almost afraid that all those whisky/brandy potions-against-flu had affected my perception.
Hmm, maybe that is why I could smell the SDV now.....::booz ::

I received part of my order from The Perfumed Court, (yay!) and am happily basking in warm peachy NAHEMA parfum. I get more peach than rose or wood (although they definitely make an appearence), and it's not as powdery as I thought it would be. It's really beautiful and if I could get my hands on a gallon jug of this, I'd be a happy woman! Gorgeous!

Love hurts, right?

Will be celebrating in Ava-Luxe Incense Tibet!

Giving Tea for Two a second chance today, but immediately upon application I am transported back to Visby, Gotland when I was eighteen. Sitting in Schenholms restaurant reading James Joyce and Margaret Atwood, drinking cup after cup of special Gotlansk tea and smoking cigarette after cigarette. Nice memory, but not one I really want to smell like.
I am wearing one of the scents I bought in "A BIG BOTTLE" after finding this little corner of the universe- Missoni Acqua. I like it though I am not sure it has a good longevity.

Just to comment on a few posted remarks- I too just received an order from TPC- 17 samples- and it's driving me crazy that I can't smell them all at once! The first one I tried was love at first sniff (Creed Virgin Island Water), second one, not so much.

I also sampled Tea for Two. I am really trying to like it a lot. I enjoy the dry down but the opening notes are really sharp for what I usually like. We should have a Basenotes Gathering- we can all bring our frags and our dispensing tools and spend the day sampling like mad!

I am thrilled to say that the Ormonde Woman I applied 9 hours ago is still going strong. I adore this singular scent and will invest in a full bottle for Christmas. The Ormonde Jayne sample bag is a little treat to be going on with. Lovely packaging and unique fragrances.

Woke up three times today -- at midninght, at 4 am and at noon. Slept like a log inbetween, going to work night shift till midnight. Wearing that fabulous vanilla fragrance that we all think might be the Guerlain Riannon is wearing. It is the best, I agree!

Don't you love it? Dontcha? Dontcha?
The powder comes in slowly. It settles, like dust from the air.
It reminds me of slamming the lid down on a box of loose powder, and a cloud of the stuff drifts down on top of you.
The wood is dry, almost incensy, but definitely there.
Gosh, it was a nice, peachy rose.
Sigh. Some day when I actually need more perfume, I will buy this.

I know what you mean, SIGH.
It's luscious and ripe.
[I started out life as a Guerlain girl, and I still love so many]
Oh, Spicegirl, I'm in Nahema parfum today too! I dug into my Guerlain samples last night to see if I had Samsara, and discovered a vial of Nahema parfum. We smell so good today.

I also found my longlost bottle of Jicky parfum - who knew it would be with the other Guerlains?!
CHLOE - Ooooh... scent twins, how lovely. Nahema is gorgeous isn't it? So happy you found your Jicky. I freak when I misplace scents that I love, esp. the tiny sample vials, they're so easy to lose. Hehehe...

I had stolen a few spritzes of my sister's Eclat d'Arpege this morning, but then I bought Lolita Lempicka L... so I have that on now...I bought it unsniffed, but had wanted it, and it was cheap... I'm not sure about it... it's very attractive and smooth, the cinnamon is lovely... but the vanilla is a bit overpowering...
later on...: actually, I like it a lot more now...it reminds me of Allure Sensuelle a lot, which is no bad thing!

Isn't it strange how different noses smell different scents? I wore Nahema a couple of days ago and was astonished by the wallop of the rose in it. Didn't get peach at all.

Anyway, I suspect this is cheating but I had to post the WordChick's sotd (bless her, she's 3 years old and has a sotd!). She loves coming in perfumeries with me and on today's xmas shopping trip in town she made an unscheduled dash into one and wanted a spritz. (I let her smell my perfumes and she can wear some of the gentler ones) So I picked up a bottle of Nina Ricci's apple one (sorry, can't remember the name) and asked if she wanted to try it. She sniffed the bottle and said 'no. This one looks like an apple', pointing to Gres Cabotine. So she had a sniff of that bottle and yes, that's the one she wanted to try on her wrist. It seemed light, pleasant and inoffensive. Nice for the office, I thought.

Tonight we were cuddled up on the sofa watching tv when I caught a whiff of something really good and started sniffing myself, as you do, but it wasn't me. It was the Chick. The drydown on the Cabotine was absolutely lovely - warm and surprisingly rich without being oriental. Poor little thing, Mummy has been sniffing her all night.

Posted my scent change in the wrong day - duh!

Joining in the Guerlain parade
Switched to Après L'ondée after it rained here today. Decided I needed to luxuriate. This is absolutely one of the most divine scents I've ever owned, it is fragile, but warm...I find little rose at all, more violets but not the candied kind - it reminds me of the touch of a velvety petal. A bit shocked to find that this received rather mixed reviews here, but I guess one person's passion is another's poison - anyone who wants to swap their's away let me know

Well, I will never truly NEED more perfume in the sense that I need food (alright I should cut back on the holiday munching) water and air. But I'm sure I will buy it anyway. I'd love to make a NY resolution to cut back, but that will surely fail.

Your review is making me want to try Nahema in the parfum, and I am working hard to fight the urge.
