As we all know, Ford Motor Company's North American operations have been struggling in the face of fierce competition from Japanese companies who are making (arguably) better vehicles along with building US and Canadian factories like crazy.
So what do they do? In addition to bringing back the Hertz Special... I mean Taurus, they introduced a new color, Light Ice Blue, that carries an uncanny resemblance to a top 10 perfume (Thierry Mugler's Angel). And it's spreading like wildfire across the FoMoCo lineup... you can now get this color on the Ford Edge, Taurus, and Taurus X, the Mercury Mariner, Sable, and Grand Marquis, and the Lincoln MKX and Town Car. Heck, the Lincoln MKS that's coming out in in mid-2008 is getting it, too. Is One American Road in Dearborn communicating with One Park Avenue in New York City, knowing something us Basenoters don't?
And other automakers have similar colors, too... Honda offers the CR-V SUV in "Glacier Blue", and Toyota offers the Avalon sedan in "Blue Mirage". To be honest, Toyota has offered Blue Mirage on the Avalon since the 2005 redesign. But Ford is putting such a color on a ton of their vehicles... and Fords trend to have a ton of chrome now, bringing it to Thierry Mugler levels. (Ever seen the new Taurus Limited? That has more chrome than Azzaro's scent!)
Still, I think I found the perfect vehicles for Thierry Mugler fans. Heck, even Consumer Reports has said that Ford's quality is improving big-time, so they can buy with confidence.
