"bah" colognes

So I'm interested in knowing some of the colognes that you all bought, and liked at first, but further down the line you're not so fond of them anymore... mine are:

1) Jaipur pour homme: terrible sillage for me, terrible longevity, and for some reason, it literally burns my skin. I feel a really acidic sting when I spray it on my neck, and it's not comfortable. Bah. I loved it at first though, because it was so soft and such a great casual scent

2) Baldessarini: the tobacco notes are giving me such an insane headache, and it stays very close to the skin for me. I can't wear this anymore, I feel like I'm going to throw up.

3) Le Male: I've grown past the powdery-sweet falseness and realized it's not for me. It smells good, but it doesn't smell like I think I should.

So, up they go for swap/sale
---
and I think I'm going to start to hate Au Masculin as well, just because it's not the type of smell I'm into right now. I'm holding onto the other ones I have though.

212 for men. Now it's yuck and makes me feel sick to wear.

Alessandro Dell Acqua - Tried a sample of this at first and loved it. It was an aqua scent that actually had great longevity and was sexy enough to wear in the evening. It really was the best of all worlds. Once I purchased the bottle it seemed like one of the notes went bad and made the scent seem slightly off. After that I bought another bottle from a different store and it had yet another scent that was close to the original, but still not quite right... I came to the conclusion that the scent was poorly blended and each bottle would be a little different. It's a shame too, because this could have been one of the greats...

Obsession for Men....it was one of the best frags I had smelled when I first started collecting....now I find it rather uninspiring...not bad, just uninspiring, which is very different from my original feelings about it.

Exactly how I feel about Aqua di Gio.

One of my latest turnarounds for the worse was Pomegranate Noir. Earlier this year I was bowled over by its rich, dark, spicy fruit and incense. When I wear in now, though, it soon becomes irritatingly thick and cloying - sometimes even choking. The fruit notes have also taken on an unpleasant edge that leaves me thinking "synthetic esters."

Oh well, at least it's one less bottle I'll be tempted to buy...

And an aside:

Jaipur has never struck me as a "casual" scent -and I've rarely heard reports of poor sillage from it. Are you using the EdT or the EdP? The EdP is significantly stronger, more complex, and more lasting. It's also possible that you're becoming habituated to Jaipur as you wear it. Others may still smell it when you cannot.

My "bah" fragrance would have to be Green Irish Tweed. I couldn't get enough of it when my bottle arrived, wearing it 2-3 times a week. But now, 3 or so months later I can't stand the smell...

Maybe it's just a matter of putting GIT on the backburner for a few months while I explore other frags.

My Jaipur is 1.7fl oz, been sprayed ~10-12 times. It wouldn't be a fair trade for you, otherwise I would. I'm broke right now, too Unless you want two of my bottles; Jaipur and Au Masculin are the only 1.7oz, the other two are 2.5, with Le Male being sprayed less than 10 times, but Baldessarini being ~ 87% full.

Geir Ness

I bought it when I was first getting into frags. Liked it a lot for a little while. I don't hate it now. There's just a lot out there that's more compelling to wear.

I think for me it's Himalaya... but it might be just the season as I am more interested in spicier scents just now. I'll wait to try it out again in a few months! I'm definitely not ready to part with it, but I really don't want to smell it just now either!

(I might add, that I still think it's a great frag, but just a little "bah" right now! )

Haha, that's both the opposite and exactly the same as how I feel. I'm moving away from the stronger scents into the more smooth, light scents... but I don't wanna try get rid of my bottles quite yet (unless someone asks, then pfft they're gone)

Anyone else notice the number of Creeds mentioned..... ?

This is almost blasphemy for me but my Creed OV was a bit too much for me the last time I wore it.

I think it's because Creeds are good! We tend to wear them much too often and our noses (brains!) get saturated with the scents. I think I only need to put the bottle away for a while! It will remain in my top 5, unless of course, something better comes along!

Paco Rabanne >> BLACK XS
I Liked it at first but after 3 or 4 outings I won't ever be using it again .
I'll be parting with this one for sure .

I have to agree with this. I was so thrilled by the loud opening notes of GIT, but after a few weeks, I couldn't care less. However, I bet the shower gel is nice to use in the morning, as it would wake you up and then go down the drain before having to settle into the EdT's sad dry down. Erolfa shower gel is awesome!

Safran Troublant by L'Artisan Parfumeur - I am struggling with finding this comfortable to wear anymore...I wore it again this morning (after we discussed saffron on the other thread) and there's something that annoys me in it.

Early on, I thought that I had found my new signature scents - the original Polo by Ralph Lauren and Azzaro pour Homme - and stocked up.

Don't misunderstand me, although I wear them infrequently at this point, I still like them both very much (plus, I wear everything infrequently) - it is just that I probably won't need the 8.0 oz backup of Polo and the 13.6 oz bottle of Azzaro pour Homme for many years!

Cacharel's Nemo was one I thought fascinating after testing it several times. I bought it, and then something happened, it started aggravating me and now I only wear it every dozen blue moons or so to see whether I'm still aggravated with it.

I had the same experience with Nemo...swapped it away a long time ago.

Ditto.

Others that went the same way:

Basala - at first, I thought it was an excellent 'macho' scent but, after a few wearings, its syntheticness started to irritate the hell out of me.

Yang - initially pleasant but never lasted a decent period of time on my skin. It was also too sweet for my liking.

Issey Miyake - I started to sneeze (quite heavily) everytime I applied it. Gave me headaches too (although, at the time, I didn't realise the true cause of my periods of nausea).

Envy - great incense note but, after a few wearings, it bored me to tears.

I'm now bored by CN Scent Intense. I find it neither intense nor dark and mysterious.

Habit Rouge, believe it or not. For some reason, I loved it for years but suddenly started wearing it less and less as it (either due to a formula change or a skin chemistry change, or perhaps an olfactory change) started displaying a prominent "urinal cake" note on me, at least for the first hour.
