New Years Fragrance Resolutions 2008

What resolutions do you feel up to making for the year ahead? (one's you'll make an effort not to break - at least right away

1. My first one is to not make any difficult resolutions - so I am not going to promise myself to buy no more frags in 2008 cause I'd be lying.

2. I resolve to refrain from making blind buys.

3. To try samples at least 3 times before buying a full bottle

4. To buy a full bottle only if I get it on sale/discount.

5. To read some good books on perfume and the art of perfumery this year (need suggestions)

I'm stopping at 5 - hopefully I'll follow through on 2 - 5

My only resolution is that I don't make resolutions.

To use more of what I already own and curb the lust for the new. When I read the Mitsouko thread I realized I have many fragrances I have allowed to hide in the back rows for far too long.

2008, I dedicate to rediscovery.

Wish me luck

I'm seriously resolving to learn how to use a calendar. Not only have I mis-dated at least three threads here at basenotes this past year, I almost used an old 2007 calendar to start 2008. Sheesh! It is January 2nd today--right???

ROFL Joy - btw - when are you going to post the info on the first Saturday sniff thingee? I'd sure like a heads up about which scents I've got that fit the January category..

I'm also not one for resolutions. DeeOlive, I do like your resolution to try a sample three times before buying a full bottle. I think that I will adopt that one at least.

Technically, I started my 1 year no-buy a few weeks ago in December, but I'm going to see if I can extend that to all of 2008. I may regret these words, but I want to try...

This is how I feel, too. I'm going to look at my no-buy as an opportunity to finally appreciate and really get to know all the beautiful fragrances that I own. Even the ones I consider my "mistake purchases" right now, I hope to learn from them by educating my nose. Speaking of my nose, I find it ironic that I'm kicking off this year with a bad cold. I can barely smell anything, lol :/

I will never make a resolution to not buy more fragrances but I do resolve to wear the ones I already own more frequently ( if I were a tad more anal I would make a rotation schedule and stick to it).

I resolve to finish cataloging my samples.

I resolve to cull them mercilessly.

I hearby resolve to purchase fewer bottles than I did in 2007

..yeah..sure..

I want to make my collection smaller this year.

I resolve to pare down my full-bottle list to about 6 or 7 scents that I just cannot live without, but since my list grew to 31 bttls. over the last year, I really have my work cut out!

Oh, and cut back on sugar!

I'm instilling a monthly fragrance allowance. If I want a fragrance that costs more than that, I have to hold off until the allowance covers it.

I want to be more eclectic and less enthusiastic when I buy !

My only goal is to try and come up with a more organized way to sample and catalog my fragrances.

And maybe try to finish more samples than I buy
