New privateer scent

Hello all,
I have been working on a new fragrance along the lines (or not) of the Doubloon scent or "piratey", if you will. Turns out that not all "pirates" were completely disgusting, especially some captains. This new scent is kind of based on him and where he resided.

A scent for a proper English privateer: Zesty citrus and spiced rum suspended on a tropical , floral sea breeze and grounded by smoky ,caramelized woods with a hint of tabac for good measure. A captain and governor's fragrance. If you didn't know by now, Sir Henry Morgan is the inspiration for this fragrance as is his "Royal Port". Let me know what you think . I have diluted it and am letting it age a bit and so far I really like it. Samples will be forthcoming.

OK, IT'S DONE.....finally have it where I like it. I made 2 oz. at 20% strength, so samples will be limited. Here is a pyramid of sorts-

Top- Neroli , lime, rum and spices( coriander , cinnamon, allspice and WI bay)

Middle- Jasmine, rose, plumeria, carnation and violet leaf

Base- Precious woods (including but not limited to Sandal& cedar), Patchouli. tonka vanilla,tobacco leaf, amber and ambergris

Hmm, that sounds really good... and a fragrance inspired by a specific privateer? That's innovation. Most people would take an idea like that and ultimately decide that it couldn't be done. James goes for it, and from what I've seen so far, pulls it off.

Hats off to you, man. Can't wait to try this one!

The first thing that came to mind when I sprayed my sample was "egg nog". That's probably because the only time I have any contact with spiced rum is in egg nog, and the combination of rum and cinnamon is very pronounced at first here.

Having extensively sampled Doubloon and Doubloon II, I can definitely say that this is at the opposite end of the pirate spectrum. Doubloon was the aroma of a hard-working buccaneer who totally incidentally picked up some pleasant scents in his travels. Port Royal is the refined privateer captain who makes an effort to smell good, and also picks up some of the scents of the trade along the way (from the relative olfactory safety of his quarters).

I'll post more once I've had a chance to spend some more time with it.

I wore this again the other day when some dudes and I were playing poker ... it pissed a few off so its doing its job ... I wouldn't wear it for romancing tho ..

I wore this again since my poker day a few weeks ago ,, I really am liking it much much more & this time I got a thumbs up from my neighbour !! ... I'll wear it again next poker nite ( this Friday ) and see what the other dudes have to say this time around ,, I think they actually liked it initially but just couldn't comprehend or beleive it when I told them it was homemade ....
