HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Enlèvement au Sérail by Parfums MDCI. This is a classic fragrance, soft, beautiful, and very elegant. I feel equiped for the day ahead with this around me.

Its notes are perfectly blended: bergamot, mandarin, ylang-ylang, jasmine sambac, tuberose, rose, wallflower, patchouli, sandalwood, vanilla and vetiver.

Voile d'ambre for a day at the hospital, low sillage and not intruding, fits the bill nicely.

Later it will be Bulgari Black i think, the voile d'Ambre doesn't stay around for lang.

I am giving Melograno another outing today.
Pomegranates just seem to suit this time of year,
and I have used them in several recipes over the festive period.
We are expecting our first snowfall today.

It is cold and rainy here
I am wearing soulful Guerlain Bois d'Armenie

Scent by Alexis Duchess -- the third test. What do duchesses do in the morning? This one drinks hot cocoa, eats a chocolate cake and when she runs out of it she asks for a huge serving of ice-cream "Death by Chocolate". Crowds of servants are ready to serve her, some are holding big bouquets of white lilies and gardenias, but the only thing she is interested in during the day is her manicurist. At the end of the day she puts on a powdered wig and goes to the ball. Imagine her confusion when instead of chamber musicians she is greeted by a metal rock group.

Probably an interesting scent, but not for me!

Inspired by the toffee notes in Plus Que Jamais, I am going to wear Un Bois Vanille today, from an Aedes sample. It is sooooooooo cold out there today.....brrrrrr.....stay warm everybody.

Good Morning, yes back to work again .
I'm trying to decide between
Noix de Tubereuse by Miller Harris
and Patchouli by Jalaine.
A tough one this morning, but they both stay
close to skin and should work for the office
(I hope).

Eau de The Rouge today. Wrap up well.
Started out in Chopard Madness Natural Black , which is nice but not quite doing it for me in today's bitter cold. Will change into L'Artisan Tea for Two.

Stay warm!
Took a bath. Put on Fendi Donna and Dr.Martin's boots. Will go for a long hike in the mall.

Chanel, Coco Mademoiselle EdP :-)

Started out as a scent-twin to Brotha G in Jo Malone Amber and Lavender (first test) but don't find it's doing it for me and anyway it's faded away now.

Will be restocking the pantry this afternoon, so need something to sustain myself and the 3-year old Chick through the supermarket experience which she finds so trying... (she's in Clarins Eau Resourcante to keep her calm)(she's sooooo posh!).
Mentally tossing a coin between Gres Cabaret and Madame Rochas... oh but maybe Voile D'Ambre... Yes! Voile D'Ambre it is.

You know, sometimes I think I make this harder work than I really need to.
:-)

later:
Yep, VDA was perfect. I got the perfume for Xmas from my hubby and it's fantastically long-lasting.

Yes - congrats on the Orange Bowl bid. Your team definitely deserved it.

Of course, I have to root for the Hokies!!!
May the best team win.

Neil Morris Afire today.

Grrrrrrrr.... got up at 4 AM to find out the hot water pipes had frozen...have been standing in the pantry with a hair dryer and heating pads since then - finally got them thawed out - thankfully they didn't burst.

It's zero degrees Farenheit here this morning (I think that is -17 Celsius). Now I can finally bathe and am going to bask in Guerlain today in honor of Rtmara (Renee's) new found addiction

Coming out of my warm shower,
I'm totally dreading going
out into the -13°C/8°F
(sounds like a really cruel joke, doesn't it?).
I've decided on Jalaine Patchouli for today.

Agallocha Muthhela Homme

Top: amber
Heart: cedar, smoked oud
Base: vetiver, sandalwood, musk
Now that sounds like an interesting pyramid, Sloan.
Is it sweet at all?
Some day... I must try getting samples of "unavailable in the U.S." fragrances.
Today I wear Jean Patou 1000.
Serious fragrance for a serious day--back to work.
Sampling Rousse (Serge Lutens) today. Nice enough, but a bit too much cinnamon for me to be FBW.

We are waiting lots of snow here - up to 50 cm!

Stay warm!

I like this Madness too! Great for summer along with the regular Madness which is a tad sweeter, IMO.

I'm in the mood for carnations, wearing Bourbon French Mon Idee.

Bois Farine by L'Artisan Parfumeur -- this from a sample
post #35 of 66
Oh my, it is bitter cold out! I am wearing Ambre Russe. love it so! Tomorrow my DH and I are leaving for a wonderful, stolen, weeklong vacation in a very warm place! I am trying to decide what fragrances to bring. Suggestions?
Musc Ravageur on this very cold day.
(Swiped this from my Storer/Kadota thread!!!)...."I'm in my sample today - and luvvin' it. On me there's more freshly turned dirt than sweetness (I envy you [Zibeline] your "sugar skin") and the figs are ripe ripe ripe....and there's a kind of wet sand-iness there. Which could be one definition of "lush" ... now it's coming into a creamy kind of condensed milk. Also not terrible. Don't know yet whether or not I'll add it to my fig collection (I'm already hundreds of dollars into January's budget - which was supposed to be zero!!)"
Hello, dear ones!

Our first snowflakes today, although it has changed into more of an icy rain now. Temps are in the 0/-1°Celsius range, so I guess it is relatively warm here for some of my US friends

Today I am wearing
...drumroll, please....

Cuir de Lancome

The new one. It's hard to stop this girl when she really wants something

Chaya, I am curious about Neil's Burnt Amber
post #39 of 66
Waffled between Coco and CocoM, then chose Lanvin Rumeur. Was disappointed. Then it quickly disappeared. Was happy. Replaced it with Chinatown. Better but still not what I wanted.

I think what I really wanted was Love Comes From Within.

Oh well.

Hermessence: Vetiver Tonka by Hermes

This smells incredible when its cold out, and it's cold in Miami today. Brr...
Prada EdP. I think I should have probably worn something from one of my delicious samples but I don't think my sense of smell is entirely recovered from my cold and that is some precious juice! However Prada doesn't seem to be rubbing me the right way at the moment.
After 3 days of highs in the single digits, it's a balmy 18°F today. Wearing Valentino V (but still can't smell anything).
Second sampling of Creed's FLEURISSIMO. I understand the house of Creed created this for Grace Kelly to wear on her wedding day. Very pretty, although I like JOY better which is similar to my nose but with a stronger rose accord.
I was feeling bold this morning and put on some JPG Classique for work Sote is another JPG, Gaultier 2.Oh...And one thing..We should probably change the date on the thread to "3 January 2008"....
Wearing Kelly Caleche by Hermes...first time trying it from a sample I got at Nordstrom. At first sniff it took me so quickly to this resort called Pink Sands that my mother and I used to stay at in the Harbor Island, in the Bahamas (it must be the smell of the flowers that grow there)....but it quickly faded from that and the leather smell is REALLY unexpected for someone who has never experienced a leather scent before. It's clearly a perfume perfume, as I think of them, as opposed to something like Le Jardin sur le Nil, which are like scent paintings as opposed to perfume...I'm describing it badly but you know what I mean.

I don't know if I LIKE this scent but I am enjoying it.

My newly aquired Black Cashmere! I love this scent....I can not imagine why I have waited so long to purchase it!
Terracotta Voile D' Ete, one of my successful blind buys last year.
Lolita Lempicka, first day of class. I always think you can't smell it after 10 minutes of applying, but I got a compliment on it 4 hours later so I guess it's just me.
Ava Luxe Shisha today. I used to think I couldn't smell this one but now I realize it was simply because every time I tested it I was also testing about five others at the same time! I can smell it just fine today on it's own, though it is close to the skin. Interestingly, more than anything else, it smells like coconut to me.

Surprisingly, there is an undercurrent of sweet wood in the heart and base of Muthhela Homme. I was expecting something more arid and resinous given its note pyramid but its an interesting fragrance nonetheless. I love the smoked oud note, which smells like black peppered wood if that makes sense. The overall wearing experience seems like a milder, less intense cousin of LAir du Desert Marocain and Montale Oud pur Oriental. Given its exorbitant pricetag and rarity, I may not be able to obtain a full bottle but at least Muthhela Homme inspired a note pyramid for future reference. RIYL: dry, resinous woods with light touches of smoke. Tauers LAir du Desert Marocain and Montale Oud pur Oriental.

I tested Aroma M's Nobara-cha yesterday-- very nice Amber, rose geramiun, and sandalwood with the trademark incense vibe understated compared to O-cha.

Today I gotta go with a favorite though, so J's Patchouli it is!

Hmmm - Hermes - either of the Jardins would be great in warm weather. Do you have MPG Bahiana? That is what I'm taking to Brazil this summer, and to Puerto Rico too.

Switched to Bois des Iles for the afternoon- off to scout out jewelers for some custom work.

Wow, I'd love to get my hands on some of that stuff. It's so hard to find though! I asked the woman at the Chanel counter at Saks and she said I might be able to get some... In Las Vegas! Just put on some Bois de Paradis over the last breath of the morning's Prada. Yummy... the honey note is so delicious in this stuff.
