Today I bought (January 2008)

Thread Starter
Went to Nordstrom and found they were featuring YSL L'Homme, which I did not buy when it first hit the market earlier last year (2007). I decided it wasn't so bad, and so I got a 50 ml. bottle. Any thoughts on this one? I know some people didn't think much of it, including me, back then...

Set of Mini Fragrances (4 5ml bottles) from Penhaligon's. They are offering a Women's set and Men's set at 50% off right now on their website. $25 per set. Blenheim Bouquet, Opus 1870, Endymion & Quercus, and Lily & Spice, Malabah, Elenisia and Artemisia. Also requested samples of Castile, Hammam Bouquet and Elizabethan Rose.

My baby steps into the world of Penhaligon's. My first purchase for 2008.
I am pleased.

Ordered a bottle of Tauer's L'Air du Desert Moracain from Luckyscent, got free shipping and then next day, the $15 off deal, but that means I saved $8 instead of $15. Oh well, it shipped.
God help me! Thursday I impulsively called Bergdorf Goodman in New York and ordered "Derby". I am excited since I like this classic discontinued fragrance but the $190.00 price tag is somewhat staggering! Am thinking of ordering "Yatagan" soon since I like it very much as well.

On Jan. 15 I returned the Derby to Bergdorf Goodman. Went out of town on business and when I came back I tried a shot from my vial from TPC and decided I liked it OK but not enough to justify the price and the fact that it was a splash bottle 125 ml. Will definitely be purchasing Yatagan soon though.

Yesterday, I bought Narciso Rodriguez for Him and Chanel Egoiste Platinum...I love fougeré scents. I already owned YSL Rive Gauche and Creeds Green Irish Tweed...wonderful!!!!
Strange is that Chanel Egoiste Platinum got a middle-note, which reminds me of GIT...who else smells that?

After the overwhelming response ( thanks! ) to my tobacco thread, I've decided to go with Michael Kors - Michael for men. Can't wait - it should arrive soon!!
It seems I've been going a little crazy this month. I actually haven't bought any frags since my bottle of Dior Homme in October, but thus far in January I've bought:

Nino Cerutti PH (from the_good_life)
Scent Intense (from pluran)
Comme des Garcons Parfum (eBay)
A bunch of samples from Aus Liebe Zum Duft as well as a few decants from the_good_life.

Right now I'm waiting for evertything to arrive. This will be a great month for me, but not for my wallet I suppose

$70.00 for half an ounce at TPC for regular customers. with another discount with semi-secret handshake at checkout.

I'll take 1ml please till I know what it smells like.

Exclusive to Colette in Paris, Vanille 44 eau de parfum features notes of bergamot, incense, gaiac wood, mandarin, vanilla, muscenone, pipol and hedione. Created by Alberto Morillas, Le Labo describes it as "Vanille 44 doesn't smell like vanilla. It is a complex association of amber and woody incense that will unveil after its first taste of musk, a profound smell of vanilla. This fragrance is just a poem. "

Last time TPC had a sale like this (Quand Vient La Pluie split) I passed on getting a decant in favor of a sample... I regret that decision as it was sold out by the time I received the sample..

For anyone else interested use the code COLETTE at checkout for $20 off vanille (not affil...)

Yep - got mine too! It's on the way according to TPC - with the discount coupon, it wasn't a bad deal! I am looking forward to it! I really like Le Labo... I have Rose 31 - probably my favorite rose; I tried Vetiver 46, and it was very nice - so smoky - something like CdG 2 man, but just "more", and I tried Patchouli 24 - perhaps not my favorite, but still unique and enjoyable. I hope the trend continues with Vanille!

Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather - I tried a sample, and was impressed, tried it a few more times and I liked it even more... so instead of spreading my free cash thin on several other leathers, I went to a larger amount of Tuscan Leather! Looking forward to using up the bottle of this one!

Heh ... managed to confuse myself and others ...

By "new formulation" I mean:

NOT the 1934 Dunhill ("Dunhill for Men") but the one released in 2003 ("Dunhill").

In trying to be extra clear I managed to confuse things! ... sorry!
ordered a back-up bottle of Yatagan.
I was offered today from a retail source a BRAND NEW 2.5 oz. Vintage Tabarome TESTER
I went to place my eyes on it at lunch. I have to have it because I would never use 8.4 ozs from a Flacon.
This fell right into my lap and I am a very happy boy right now. I financed the purchase from previous sales from my drobe, so my New Years Resolution is intact. WooHoo!!! Oh, yes I have had 3 full wearings of VT before and I love it, so no blind buy here.
Realizing the true extent of my short attention span, I have resolved (although not consciously) it seems, to purchase oodles of samples. Including but not limited to ....

From Dawn Spencer Hurwitz:
Inner Sanctum
Aphrodisia

HI Jaime---I bought YSL l'Homme at Sephora last week. Something refreshing and lightly sweet with a slight amber feel to it. I liked and bought it. I read someone on BN calling it L'ame---that's ok too--not for everyone. Got a couple compliments at work on it as well--which doesn't happen too much.

I got my samples in from the perfumed court. I'm having a blast experiencing these. Taken from the Perfumed Court website. I am a huge fan of Serge Lutens, l'Artisan and Malle.

From Boys will be boys sampler:

Bvlgari Black - This one goes on a little strange, but it is a great, classic men's scent.
Ormonde Jayne Isfarkand - woody and great. You'll smell like a guy, but a really classy guy
Narciso Rodriguez for Him - One of the recent entries into the men's scent market, this one follows more of a classic men's scent line, but has some nice quirks
Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan - Simply one of the best amber scents ever made. Earthy and elegant.
From Mens Luxary Sampler Advanced:

Tom Ford Private Blend Tobacco Vanille (1/2 ml)- A great tobacco scent.
Ormonde Jayne Isfarkand - woody and great. You'll smell like a guy, but a really classy guy
Narciso Rodriguez Musc for Him (1/2 ml)- One of the recent entries into the men's scent market, this one follows more of a classic men's scent line, but has some nice quirks
Clive Christian No. 1 for Men (1/4 ml) - Beautiful, masculine and elegant.
Andy Tauer Lonestar Memories - A perfect leather scent
Armani/Prive Ambre Soie (1/2 ml) - wonderful, luxurious amber
Frederic Malle Musc Ravageur EDP - Simply a great musk scent without being overpowering
Hermessence Poivre Samarcande -- peppery and rich
JAR Shadow (1/4 ml)-- The is dark and rooty and wonderful
Le Labo Patchouli 24 - patchouli, birch tar. Dark and smokey and perfect
MDCI Ambre Topkapi - Rich and elegant
Serge Lutens Muscs Koublai Khan - The ultimate musk scent

Gucci EDP (brown bottle)
Hermes Bel Ami
Bond No. 9 Chinatown
That is an extremely complex list of scents. My advice - take your time smelling these JickyMan. Many of those listed need your single and undivided attention and concentration to really appreciate, understand and 'get' before you can honestly love them or dismiss them.

Interested to see how you like the Hermes scents and the Black March by CBIHP.
