Funny comment on Fluer du Male

I was in Myers today and noticed a Fluer du Male white paint tin marked down to 49$ (rrp in aus is 99) because the base had to be sticky-taped. I have only tried it once before and thought it was a bit girly, but that was about 6 months ago before I started getting into fragrances.

I sprayed a bit on my arm, just to see what it was like again, and to see if it smelt any less flamboyantly strong once it settled. My girlfriend works in the same shopping centre, so I went and found her. Within 20 seconds of giving her a hug, she said:
"You smell like my gay uncle. In a bad way."

Fluer du Male is not for me

Haha, my GF looked at it and said. "Flowers for men, real sexy"
She was joking ofc It smells like my grandma, in a bad way.

I fear any cologne that comes in an atomically correct bottle

My nephew and niece think I smell great! With the exception of the time I wore Antidote. My nephew said I smelled like an old woman.

They both like Cuir Ottoman, and Patchouli 24 on me. I gave my nephew my decant of Patch 24, and my niece wears Bond - Coney Island and VIW. Not bad for a 20 yr. old and a 16 yr. old huh? They both are really into fragrance because there Uncle Barry is too. Great kids they are.

My wife is adamant that I not buy it either. She is 100% sure that it is a woman's scent, and asked me if I'd gone a bit funny when I said I liked it.

By the way, which Myers was it?

HAHA The gay uncle is pretty much right about Fluer du Male. It has got to be one of the worst colognes with alot of hype behind it.

It smells like Old man + Flowers. I remember wearing for a full day and I would catch a wiff of it and just fell so sick. And I though "THATS WHAT I SMELL LIKE??"

I'm pretty sure one of the SA's @ my local Nordies is gay & when Fleur du Male came out I had given it a spray onto a card & was waving the card under my nose. The SA came around the corner & was like "Ugh, who just sprayed that awful stuff?" It was pretty funny.

I too have an intense dislike for Fleur du Mâle.

There are two things I dislike even more: homophobia and ageism. There are gay and older people on this board. I wish we would have a care when we post things that might be read as disrespectful by people who might come across them. Stereotyping people (or the scents they like) can be quite disrespectful.

Do not forget the heterophobia that's present on this board.

And yes, Fleur du Male is a "gay uncle" scent.

This straight, married male is a big fan of Fleur Du Male.

If someone thinks i smell like an old, gay uncle...then so be it.

I am gay and I don't mind a little bit of Stereotyping, provided that it is lightweight stereotyping, done with good humor, not in a derisive way. I think it is easy to identify when there is an intention to offend.

I was not offended by the comments posted in this thread.

It was at Myers Galleria (Morley) in WA.
And my comments wernt meant as an attack against any 'gay uncles,' I just thought it was a funny way of describing how it smells.

If no offense was meant, then none is taken.

I'll have to go smell this stuff finally. Reminds me that I should send a couple scents to my nephews too.
