Ulric De Varens UDV for Men

Surprisingly, there is very little talk of this designer house or fragrances on here, except for the Musk version.

Any opinions of UDV for Men? I suppose this is the "New" version has it actually has an expiration date on the box of 06/09 (I have a year and a half on this time bomb!!).

I like this cologne...it was cheap ($9.99 at Perfumania). I was pleasantly surprised when I smelled it. But to my dismay, does it smell too similar to my already owned Vermeil (courtesy of tvlampboy's contest!)?

One of the two reviews said that it smells like Cool Water, and that IMHO is completely wrong. The reviewer must have been smelling the Blue version?

Can anyone else comment? Is my nose deceiving me about the Vermeil similarity?

Is this the one in the gray bottle? If so I though it smelled like Salvador Dali Pour Homme and 273 for men.

Yes, the bottle is gray. I have never smelled either Salvador Dali or 273 though.

I do not own it -- I have only tested it in the store. I like it very much; do I smell a lot of mint in the opening? Very handsome bottle, too.

UDV for Men, the grey Bottle is a great fragrance for a great price, with reasonable longevity (6-8 hrs) on my skin. 10 bucks for 60 mls. It's the blue bottle that smells like Cool Water. Not much is mentioned about this frag house though (is it even considered one?) Made in France, wide range of male and female scents. Anyone else try this?

I grew up seeing UDV bottles in drugstores all over my city, many of them still carry different bottles it UDV.... wonder if they're the same bottles I grew up seeing

Rectoverso Man: Blue Atoll is my favourite from De Varens.

Most of his other ones are a tad too basic and linear for me.

I read from nowsmellthis that the following three are by Jean Claude Ellena

Ulrich de Varens no. 2 (1998)
Urich de Varens UDV Fun for men (2000)
Lily Prune Sublime Vanilla (2001)

Tried this today and like it a lot. I get mostly lemon and mint. Reminds me of Live Jazz, which I also like.

The bottle and box, on the other hand, are among the ugliest I've ever seen for a fragrance.

Best Of UDV and Retroverso Man Tea Tobaco are my favorites.
