Scent gurus, enlighten me!

Hey guys, first post. I was wondering if you guys could recommend a summer scent for me. I use John Varvatos for the fall and winter...and maybe summer nights. I used to wear ADG and Issey Miyake, but I'm interested in trying something new for the summer. I've been seeing a general trend in the summer threads and have ordered a tester of Paul Smith- Story...I'm also curious about
YSL- Live Jazz
M7 Fresh(Cilantro note makes me nervous)
---
Anyone have any suggestions? It gets hot out here...around 115 in the summer. Right now it's around mid-80s. thanks much!

Welcome to Basenotes.

Some summer scents I would recommend are:

Asprey Purple Water
Bulgari Aqua or Bulgari Aqua Marine
Clean Men
Clinique Happy for Men
Creed Green Irish Tweed
Creed Original Vetiver
Creed Millesime Imperial
Creed Virgin Island Water
Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue pour Femme (I prefer this over the men's version)
Guerlain Imperiale
Hermes Eau d'Orange Vert
Jo Malone Lime, Basil & Mandarin
Sean John Unforgivable
Thierry Mugler Cologne
Tommy Bahama Set Sail St. Barts
Yves Saint-Laurent Kouros (don't go heavy on it though)
Yves Saint-Laurent Opium pour Homme Eau d'Orient

Good luck with the hunt!

Joe. Is this list a try and see if you'll like list only, or do you also like each and every one of them.

To the great list posted earlier I'll add Guerlain Vetiver- similar to Mugler Cologne but worth having, and Bvlgari Black.

Having spent at least $1,000.00 on samples searching for summer scents, I have only found 3 that are full bottle worthy. I'm sorry I can't suggest more. The summer citrus, fresh category is low on longevity, strength and sillage. If I could only have one it would be hands down Bigarade Concentree.

Bigarade Concentree by Malle - Just got off the Barney's website from placing an order for this season.

Menethe Moderne by DSH Perfumes - A fresh minty affair in EDP - just reordered this also

Balle Match by Patricia de Nicolai - Grapefruit with a pepper, sounds weird, but it's like salt and pepper, they just work together

Aqua di Parma - Colonia Assoulta
Baldessarini - Del Mar
Chanel pour Monsieur
Creed - Neroli Sauvage
L'Artisan - Voleur de Roses

Those are a few extras to try.

L'eau Par Kenzo
Moschino Friends
Christian Dior Higher and Dune
Versace Man Fraiche
Monsieur de Givenchy
Guerlain Vetiver
ck Truth
Eau de Rochas Pour Homme
Bvlgari Aqua
Dolce & Gabbana Masculine

I currently have or previously had all of these fragrances in my wardrobe, and I like every one of them - I know it's part of my addiction, errr I mean hobby

Thanks Joe. I envy you. I wish I could find more that I liked so it wouldn't make my hobby so difficult.

Thanks guys! You've all been a great help. I've been looking for samples and have found some on ebay, but they're all from different sellers which equals crazy shipping costs. Does anyone know where I can get samples in one place?

Thanks again!

Try scentmonkey.com. They sell samples of almost everything they have. I've purchased from them several times.
