Jacomo
Anthracite pour l'Homme
(1991)

Top Notes: Bergamot, Tarragon, Pepper, Cypress, Angelica Roots, Galbanum, Lavender, Pineapple
Middle Notes: Violet, Ylang Ylang, Rose, Cloves
Base Notes: Sandalwood, Oakmoss, Musk, Amber
You'd think from the fragrance pyramid that this is mostly green, but the lavender and fruit, plus the floral and spicy notes in the heart make it more than that.
The oakmoss in the base, even without patchouli, gives
it a chypré cast in the drydown.

Social Creatures Rebel Ambush

An invigorating blend of lavender, tobacco, vanilla, sandalwood, champaca and cardamom. Very green and forest-y with an ozonic undertone and some earthy notes. Not at all rebellious, but decent and very versatile.

Wearing Narcisso Rodriguez for the first time - thanks Circa! It seems to smell a little like Lalique Lion in some ways to me... anyone else get the same?

Dior Homme Intense, yet again. My only complaint is its longevity; for an EdP it should be longer lasting. Otherwise highly recommended.

Parfums de Nicolai New York
It's been a couple months since this one called to me. Sometimes if you're spending more of your energy learning new frags than enjoying what's familiar, it's so nice to come back to an old companion.

Today I am having day off from work! DH and I have borrowed a friend's pass to the Institute of Contemporary Art and will spend the day both at home and out-and-about, which we haven't been able to do in FAR too long.

Celebrating not needing to worry about sillage in Annette Neuffer's Avicenna. This perfume, along with Guerlain's Samsara, were the first to prove to me that I could wear some jasmine-laced scents without smelling like a funeral.

Head notes: Black Pepper, Cinnamon Bark, Cardamom, Ginger, Macis, Mandarin, Bergamot, Tunisian Neroli
Heart notes: Saffron Absolute, Tunisian Orange Blossom absolute, Turkish and Bulgarian Rose Otto and absolute, Moroccan Rose Absolute, Russian Rose Absolute, Jasminum Grandiflorum Egypt, Acacia Farnesiana, Indian Tuberose, Broom Absolute
Base notes: Beeswax Absolute Supérieur, Somalian Myrrh, Opoponax, Elemi, Labdanum, Vanilla Absolute, Mysore Sandalwood, Copaiva Balsam, Hibiscus Abelmoschus

P.S. - The Parfums de Nicholai New York sounded particularly inviting -- Does anyone know when we'll be able to add to our "I want to try this" lists again?!?

Created by Stéphanie Bakouche, Invasion Barbare (and formerly known as SB/1) from Parfums MDCI is targeted for men....citrus fruits, lavender, spices and vanilla and woods....but I find it bracing and uplifting for a glummy day like this.

I reached for Antaeus but thought I needed to tone it down a bit as it's getting pretty warm here in Kentucky and I may have peed on enough trees yesterday. At 8:00 a.m. Thursday, I put on a medium dose of JHL as it was in the low 40's and it was a new purchase that I was excited to give a full test-drive. By the early afternoon it was up to 65 and I was working up a pretty good sweat. Uh-Oh. I was convinced that all who looked my way saw me in a red-orange infrared.

Today I'm playing it extra safe with Acqua di Parma Colonia.
