You Can Still Read The Reviews at Basenotes!

There is a way of accessing the reviews of fragrances here at Basenotes. Just perform a google search with the basic keywords, for example "Lutens Sultan" and include the name "basenotes.net" in the search. Then click on "CACHED" on the webpage that you want, instead of clicking on the title.

If google doesn't show you the page that you need (it does happen a lot), go to Yahoo.com and search again. Follow the same procedure and click on "CACHED". If the page is not available, click on "INTERNET ARCHIVE", and then choose a 2007 date.

By doing this, I always found the reviews I was looking for.

this is great thanx

to be fair -- no need to press cached any more. thereviews are actually up now, but unfinished, so i've not publicised it yet..

I was just coming on to post that, if you've got a direct link to a review it seems to work fine, and I imagine a google search would work just as well. Just be sure to end your search terms with site:basenotes.net

not all work yet either, but i've visitors this weekend, so no work for me!

Thanks for the tip! Ninja text...

interestingly enough the links still work in the cached pages and you can see the new format. It looks really. really good!

Yeah I've been doing this already.

YEah, it never occured to me to pass the tip. It can be a little difficult to find the fragrance you are looking for (the other day I could never access the C&S 88 cached page). Google search is not that smart after all. Anywhoo, as Mr. Grant said, there is no need for that. The search function is not active, but the reviews are up. Just click on Fragrance brands Very nice layout by the way.

I noticed that yahoo is better than google for searching Basenotes reviews. So the best thing is to search at yahoo first......

After reading this thread, I decided to check out the revamped reviews section. Wow, Grant, it looks absolutely brilliant! I can't wait to further investigate the directory and reviews, when it's all fully up and running.

i feel like the only idiot who still cant see or read the reviews here....where did you guys go on BN directly to see the reviews?

Accept Facts,

The only way that I know of is by searching at yahoo and then clicking on the link to the basenotes site. It seems that you don't need to use the CACHED link anymore.

Maybe the specific page that you want to see is unavailable. Try other fragrances. I successfully read many reviews, using this procedure. Did you try the "Internet Archive" also?

here's another one I use thanks to a previous mention in another thread. This cached but you cannot use the search functions to it helps to find out what year the scent was created and searching that way.

Well, if you know the maker of your fragrance of interest, just go to "Fragrance Brands" (top left menu list), find the house you're looking for, then go to the fragrance you're looking for under that house, and there are the reviews! Grant's done more than he thinks!

Whoa!

Nice move Schachman! And the new review section has added features such as "Edit Review!!" Thanks for showing us the back door.

But alas! No listing for Parfums Llewelyn and their fabulous Stardust for Men under alphabet letters 'P', 'L' or 'S'....As Parfums Llewelyn are no longer in business are only the companies still producing listed?

Stardust

not all the brands appear in the list yet (not worked out why yet...). Stardust for men appears to have no reviews - I'm sure it did at one point

Maybe I'm wrong - Google Cache show nothing.

Nothing in 2004

Thanks Schachman! I had tried going via Google and could sometimes access the latest six reviews. Using this method, essentially the whole current directory is accessible! This info is well worth putting this thread back up on the top of the list!
