Trussardi Uomo

I bought a 100ml bottle of Trussardi Uomo today pretty cheap (A$30). This stuff is so unabashedly masculine I feel like I'm giving myself a testosterone shot when I spray it.

To all those who say that all this masculine/ feminine scent differentiation is just in our heads, a marketing ploy, societal, an artificial construct etc., I ask the following question -
Can you really and honestly imagine any woman willingly wearing Trussardi Uomo?

I'll just mention that I had the same reaction to Carlo Corinto. It will be fun to play around with it, layering in all kinds of ways.

In a word.....no. I don't think I'd want to smell this one on a woman! Bottled testosterone it is.

This is one I would have bet you already owned Renato. It's a powerhouse to me.

With some scents, I can see how they might cross the line and be unisex but as you mention for others like TU, I can't imagine that unisex was anywhere in the perfumers OR markerting minds when the scent was created.

Of course I can. There's a really nice bar in NYC I passed going home at night and there's a series on Showtime which goes into it's fourth or fifth season this summer called "The L Word" which I love.

I also have a bottle of Trussardi Uomo which I love.

Our local Marshall's rarely has any frags of note when I check. But around Christmas time they load up with lots of goodies. I snagged a 3.4 Trussardi Uomo NIB there for $19.99 last November

Hey - you got it cheaper than me!

The bottle is puzzling - it looks like it should hold more than just 100mls to me.

I wore this at my university graduation ceremony back in April 1994! I had cut my loooong hair off for the occasion, and all I remember all night were friends coming up to me boggle-eyed saying "you look and smell all grown up!". haha! It scared me then and it scares me now! I dont know how many ladies would be game enough to try... would make for an interesting BN challenge however!

For the longest time, I couldn't figure out what all the hoopla was about with Trussardi Uomo. I sniffed it and was smelling something *completely* different that the testosterony scent everyone discusses.

Then I realized that I had been smelling Trussardi L'Uomo. Completely different critter...

Why did Trussardi name two so distinct scents with almost the same name?

That's news to me - but not really surprising. Recollect scents like YSL Pour Homme vs YSL L'Homme, or as confusing Romeo Gigli vs di Romeo Gigli. Or even the very old "Burberry" vs old "Burberry. London" = current "Burberry" vs the current "Burberry London".

I guess when their brand's signature scent isn't selling strongly enough or is too dated, they don't want to kill it off completely, instead just sort of introduce another one.

I was in my local specialist perfume shop recently (this place carries an amazing range of scents and the SAs really know their stuff) and one of the SAs asked me what the gorgeous scent I was wearing was. It was Trussardi, purchased the day before for 15 euro at a discount perfume shop up the road! It was the first time that has happened, and in the middle of all those terrific scents (CdG, l'Artisan, Diptyque, AdP, Penhaligons, Truefitts, etc etc etc), I thought it was amazing...

I tried out my sample of Trussardi Uomo last night. Not a bad frag, but I don't get the testosterone out of it. It comes across as a nice, light leather to me. I checked and it's not the "L'Uomo". Possibly a bad sample. It also reminds me of an uncle that was not particularly well liked, so that may influence it.

Its not a heavy fragrance or over the top. I find it stays close to you and does not enter the room before you.

Oddly enough, I wrote the original post based on the blast of scent on my arm from the tester on the day I bought it. When I finally opened my bottle and applied it to the same arm, it's a tad tamer in the testosterone stakes.
