Hi Guys
As the title says after something new for our upcoming winter here in aus.
N ot a big fan of sweet or aniseed type frags.

Serge Lutens Fumerie Turque. I guess it's dark, smokey and deep, yet not melancholic like say Voleur de Roses. Rather it's calming and comforting.
There is sweetness in it, but by far not as much as the Lutens scents used to have. The perfect choice for winter.

Give Antaeus a try, it's deep and rich without a massively sweet punch, but just a hint of beeswax in the base.

L'Anarchiste fits the bill. Cloves, Cedar, Orange, plus a healthy dose of musk. Definitely can't be seen as "too sweet" in any way.

Try Gucci Envy. Not sweet to me, pleasantly woody with a fair kick of spice to it.

I think this is a good suggestion!

Some more:

Gucci PH (has some similarities to Envy, but different enough!)
Lubin Idole (though it has a Rum base that can appear to be a little sweet, but it's not really)
Bvlgari Soir (deeper than Bvlgari PH)
Comme des Garcons Man 2 (may need to spray a bit, but it's worth it!)
Costes - Hotel Costes (similar to CdG Man 2)

i will second burberry london. light on the sweets but does have a pleasant dried fruity tobacco twinge to it. michael for men is along the same lines of semi-sweet boozy dried fruits and tobacco. i really enjoy both of them in the cool weather. neither are stuffy, elegant without being overly formal.

i also can always recommend antaeus. wonderful stuff. more on the formal side but i like it so much that i enjoy wearing it anytime. very classy strong blast of sage up front but the dry down is were its the best- rich and creamy that retains a bit of the sage. it reminds me of the classic creed ambergris dry down but on me it has much better longevity and sillage.

I must second the mentions of Gucci Envy.

For something of a twist, with more powder and more power, I'd give Oscar de la Renta's Pour Lui a whirl. Go easy at first, as this one is clearly a child of the '80s, but is really good stuff, and affordable, too.

If you can find some on E-bay, or elsewhere, the discontinued and magical
Patou Pour Homme defines deep and classy.

I think Bois du Portugal or Nicolai New York would be excellent also.
