Wireless Scenting

AroLogic has developed wireless scenting devices that can be controlled by one controller.

Arologic uses a unique software-based interface which provides a central remote access point to activate a scent, vary the intensity or even change the aroma. All you need to do is choose which scent, where and when. Its simple. Hotels, for example, can release a micro-mist of roses in the foyer, eucalyptus in the gym and chocolate in the lounge at any given time of the day. Even more revolutionary, Arologic means every single guest room from 1 to in excess of 100 - can be diffusing a unique scent, also controlled from one point, with the option of in-room override if necessary. Completely wireless diffusers also facilitate a fast and efficient installation. The design and versatility of Arologic is unmatched.

From Their Website.

Considering how much cheap chemical frags bug me, this is not something I'm looking forward too. Sure, the higher end places may use better quality frag products for these types of things. But I'm willing to be that most places will opt for the cheapest frag possible.

Having a frag shoved up my nose is particularly unwanted. I don't need eucalyptus at the gym or anything in my room.

Very interesting. A great application could be when online websites like extremeperfumes.com or perfume.com or any other perfume site can send binary data to your future scent diffuser letting you know how a certain perfume smells like (even if an approximation is made - I find it very useful)

They have a great idea going but I can see lots of problems with this invention so I would never want to use it. I guess it is the next step up from time released room scents and plug-ins.

This is probably really close, if not being field tested. I just stayed in the perfect place, that was either using it, or could have used it in good conscience. It's a higher-end chain hotel with rather unusual, expansive grounds - it was formerly a shopping center. Distances are huge, and staffing miniscule. There were definitely scent diffusers (expertly hidden - I couldn't find them) in various parts of their grounds. The entrance way (a very long corridor) had fake flowers the whole way, with a nice but just-a-hair-too-loud artificial fresh/floral aroma being pumped out along the whole length, which tipped me off. Enter the huge lobby, a different aroma - more smoky to match the "fireplace" (gas, of course), but cleaner than the odor of real fireplaces. Elevator to the hotel wings, and yet another scent. Enter our room, and yet another, with no obvious origin. They may have even been varying the hotel wing scent based on time of day, because I have differing recollections morning and night. Interestingly, the location on this place is not optimal (city next to river and train tracks), so it may be that a scent solution (no pun intended) was required to keep down complaints about environmental odors.
