besides the obvious (jo malone and le labo),
what are some good orange blossom fragrances?
doesn't have to be "for men" but logically wearable for a 17 year old

i have orange blossom by le couvent des minimes formula no. 706...

Fahrenheit 32 by Christian Dior
Black Orchid Voile de Fleur by Tom Ford
Fleur de Male by JP Gaultier

I will second Fahrenheit 32. A much better version of Fleur du Male, IMO, and something I'd actually wear

And let's not forget: Check out: http://community.basenotes.net/showt...ccitane+orange

Where on page 2 mikeperez, once again gives an excellent review . . .

So, mike. Is anyone selling the 'old' Neroli these days?

Cheers,

Mario

i have F32
and i want FdM

BO VdF - i need to smell again. i greedily ignored it because of black orchid.

but i was looking for a more "pure" approach to orange blossom

i should check out l'occitane.
i went to their website and i want to get 4 (honey, almond, orange blossom, vanille) . decently priced. but of course i have to try them

Prada Exclusive scents have a Fleur D'Orangeur scent. It's around $165 for a 30ml bottle of extrait

I did try UN JARDIN EN MEDITERRANÉE by Hermès recently and Orange Blossom was very prominent there (with Fig at the background). It's unisex fragrance. Orange Blossom is very nice there.

I was not impressed by the new L'Occitane Orange Blossom. Now the old discontinued one...that's the one you want, if you can find it: http://usa.loccitane.com/img/product/600/28ET050NE.jpg

yeah i have to re try that again.
i gave it less respect because of it's sibling un jardin sur le nil. <3
but then again im not a big figgy guy.

i need to go to l'occitane!

Yes, L'Occitane's old Neroli is the best thing out there. It's just a matter of tracking a bottle down. I actually bought one from a kind Basenoter who let me on to his spare one.

Serge Luten's Fleurs d'Oranger is orange blossom with indolic florals, which I enjoy.

Penhaligon's Castile is also nice.

mike, what do you think of this:

?
Laura Mercier (the cosmetics counter) has a scent called "neroli", I haven't tried it yet.

24 Faubourg is predominant orange blossom fragrance, as is Narcisse Blanc.

L'Artisan has the special edition orange blossom and Neroli (pricey)

Jo Malone - a lot of people like this one, I don't.

People mention something called "florida water". I am personally not acquainted with that frag.

At that price, it's nearly a sample, give it a shot

I agree with Vivek - $8.95 is cheap. If you hate it you can use it as an air freshener.

Farenheit 32
Le Chasse Aux Papillons L'Artisan

I must admit I find FdM and F32 to be more of a caricature of neroli than anything else. I sold my L'Occitane, it's intensity gave me a headache. In other words, I'm very much a fan of old fashioned EdC-style neroli scents, which are best for spring and summer anyway. The ones I find to have the best and strongest neroli in them, are

Penhaligon's Castile (blended beautifully with rose)
Berdoues No. 444 Extra Vieille. not so easy to find outside France.
d'Orsay Etiquette Bleue EdT Double Extrait.
Adolfo Dominguez Azahar is nice, but less natural smelling and with white florals added. Can be had quite cheaply, too.

Hi all

I found Fujiyama Green (by Succes De Paris) at BigDiscount.com ($9.95)...
Someone here in the forum mentioned that have some similiarities with
Hermes Eau D´Orange Verte, but I am not sure if this is true...

Would apprecite (if someone had try), some additional info about Fujiyama Green!

Regards.

An odd marriage of orange blossom and cedar creates a notorious "blood accord" in Caron's under rated gem L'Anarchiste. Try it before the "evil doers" at Caron reformulate it into a big nothing!

This gave me hope. Penhaligon's has never let me down. But then we have

So what to do?
Buy the Old L'Occitane Neroli (assuming anyone has it at a sane price) and layer it down with the sweet and so-so cheapo Clinique Happy? Or the gone in 60 seconds Hermes Eau d' Orange Verte?

Help!
I covet a great Neroli, damn it!

*sigh*

Try the Berdoues then, if you can.

Or if we are talking neroli as well as orange blossom then Neroli Sauvage? Great fresh, light neroli.

Are you looking for a fragrance that has neroli as a note, or a soliflore?

I think that the clove overwhelms the neroli in Florida Water. 4711 would be a better choice, but really any traditional "Eau de Cologne" would have a more or less prominent neroli note.

Also, Tabac Original has a nice neroli note. For some reason, it always reminds me of Ivory soap when I first put it on.

Also, the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria line has an orange blossom scent this year: http://nowsmellthis.blogharbor.com/b...0/3668164.html

NowSmellThis has a review of Tabac Original: http://nowsmellthis.blogharbor.com/b...1/3669892.html

Apparently I was very perceptive about the soapiness -- it started out as a soap in 1938, and was only turned into a cologne in 1955!

I received rose samples from Parfums de Rosine yesterday. One of them was Rose d'Homme You might think this would have nothing to do with orange blossoms but today I happened over these quotes in Turin/Sanchez' Perfumes: The Guide which I find relevant:

""TS Rose d'Homme (Parfums de Rosine) * * * * floral masculine A nicely done, sweet, woody orange blossom for boys: basically, Habit Rouge.""

""TS Orange Blossom Cologne (Jo Malone) * * * white floral Malone's bright and soapy orange blossom smells very close to jasmine""

I had to test that Rose d'Homme this evening and would have to admit that it resembles Habit Rouge - only without quite that animalic note. It is also interesting that one might easily mistake orange blossom for jasmine - at least I think I could. I've never tried Jo Malone's Orange Blossom Cologne but will certainly do so if I get the chance. Rose d'Homme is definitely worth a try.

Is it just me, or does bottle look like a bottle of vegetable oil? Where'd you find that one squirrelmilk?

As much as I profess my dislike for the house of Creed, Neroli Sauvage is great. I just got myself a decant as a blind buy and it is awesome (although not long lasting). Castile is great, too.

But both have been mentioned in this "old" thread, just seconding this.

From the sounds of a recent post, the new Prada for Men to be released later this year is more of an orange blossom/neroli scent - as opposed to iris as was originally anticipated.

Caswell-Massey Number Six Cologne has orange blossom listed second to bergamot. Never tried it but at $30.00 on their website it might not be bad to try.

Tunisian orange blossom and Calabrian marine bergamot stand center stage in Gianfranco Ferre's Bergamotto Marino.
Its a refreshing Eau De Cologne spray that is definitely worth a look.

Guerlain's Eau Du Coq will give you the citrus sparkle that Castile lacks.

"Florida water" is a traditional fragrance genre with many recipe variations, similar to "cologne" but more floral. I bought a bottle for about $5 in a botanica, and to my nose, it is more about Ylang Ylang than Neroli. However, the genre is so open to interpretation, it is certainly possible that some are more heavy on the Neroli. It is possible to find a recipe online and make your own from essential oils and herbs.

I have seen orange blossom water (and rose water) in the specialty food store. I think these are used for flavorings in middle eastern cooking.

Three wonderful frags, each distinct from the others:

Fleur du Mâle by Jean Paul Gaultier
Tabac by Mäurer & Wirtz
Castile by Penhaligons

I recently tried Neroli by Czeck & Speake and I have to say I really liked it. I normally associate neroli with old-fashioned barbershop smells and ordinarily would dismiss a scent based on that but this was different. Somthing pure and classy about it.
I also tested Eau pour le Jeune Homme by MPG and find it heavy on the neroli with a distinct MPG signature floral mix in the drydown. Longevity isn't as bad as I've read about.
I also tried Neroli Sauvage by Creed, which reminded me very much of Eau de Rochas Homme. Very fresh and pleasant in the opening but I don't get as much neroli in that one. Actually, this gives me a little hope abot liking Creed.
Chanel's PM (original) is also heavy on the neroli.
