Or, "Orange You Glad I Didn't Say Blue?"

This installment showcases 80 orange & yellow bottles.

Challenge:

In a private message, name as many of the fragrances in the picture below as possible. For each bottle, score one point for naming the house and one point for naming the fragrance.

Click on the image or link below to view it full-size (1280 x 960):

http://i238.photobucket.com/albums/f...per_orange.jpg

 • If your browser resizes the picture to fit your window, the bottles will not be as easy to see.
 • Give as much detail as you can (gender, special editions, etc.).
 • There may be clues in this thread, as well as search suggestions in the other bottle contest threads linked below.

Process:
PM your list of answers, in the order that they appear in the picture. Please list them by row.
It would help to receive your list of answers all in one private message, but you may submit updates/corrections up until the deadline.

If you submit updates, please use some indicator of which answers have been added or changed (bold, asterisk, etc.).
Deadline:
6:01p.m. (CDT - US), Wednesday, May 14, 2008 => 12:01a.m. GMT, May 15

Who Can Play:
Anyone who became a Basenotes member prior to May 5, 2008. Also, I would like to award the first-place prize to someone who has not won it previously.

I try to include a handful of lesser known bottles, but don't let that discourage you from joining in!

Judging:
If more than one person has the same number of correct answers, I'll choose a random winner from those finalists.

Prize:
For 1st place: a $50 (USD) gift certificate to one of the following
 • BeautyHabit.com (gift certificate via email)
 • ThePerfumedCourt.com (gift certificate via email)
 • Sephora.com (gift certificate via email)
 • ThePerfumeShoppe.com (physical gift card mailed within Canada?)
 • Another e-tailer of your choice that offers gift certificates via email
 • I'm open to other options for Basenoters outside the U.S. (e.g., Aus Liebe zum Duft)

For 2nd place:
Sunshine in a Jar: nightlight or garden light, in a solar-powered mason jar!
or a $25 (USD) email gift certificate.

For 3rd place:
Gap Scent Editions Spun Orange Blossom Perfume Oil Roll-On (.2 fl.oz. / 7ml)
or a $15 (USD) email gift certificate.

WAY gorgeous, MizTang. :bounce: Gave me a real lift from being bummed about the combined SOTD thread (feels like a huge cafeteria instead of the comfy kitchen we had before. To me.)

Will see if I can identify more than just five this time!

Tang ~ Way to go! Just the perfect selection for spring and summer! I'll bet I find a new frag for myself as I delve into this batch...Thanks for putting together this fun challenge!
Wow, Tang, what a way to start the morning with such a beautiful sight! You outdid yourself as usual. Now the challenge begins but we do have a whole week which is pretty nice...
What a sunny sight! Thanks again, Tang!

Tang this desktop is fab!
Good luck to all who will participate in identifying the bottles I think I'll give my eyes a rest this time

Tang, you are brilliant yet again. Apart from the beauty of the pictures, the formatting of these posts is a joy to read.

I can't wait to find out what the rose bottle is in the middle of the top row. Good luck to all those competing (I recognised about three!)

Thank you, everyone! I was ready for some sunshine after a too-long winter.

I should have found a way to include this amazing bottle:

Quote:
"L'Orange," a perfume bottle set for Parfums de Marcy, circa 1925, consisting of eight enameled glass bottles as orange segments, set in painted ceramic holder, with paper labels for "Les Lilas." Sold at auction for $1,410.

Good luck to those who pick up the gauntlet!

I love oranges and I especially loved the Orange Crush defense from the Denver Broncos. Great job on the game, I could never guess them all, but best of luck to the winner!!
I live right here in the very heart of Big Orange country ( University of Tennessee Volunteers aka the Vol's) and the use and wearing of orange is very liberal around here. I really got a big kick out of seeing all the orange bottles.....I am surprised they don't have a Big Orange perfume for sale at UT.
Great job Tang, as always! Dayem! You make orange look good!

Wishing the best of luck to everyone!

I'm taking a shot at naming all these bright lovelies! With 33 to go I think I've hit my limit. This is tough!

Good luck to you all!

Announcing the Winners!

Ok! Sorry for taking so long to post the results. Today was a MESS.

This was the closest competition yet... very tough to score.

With the combined effort of 2 returning players and 5 new players (yay!), 76 out of 80 bottles were correctly identified.

The exciting results:
(Total points possible, 160)
 • 1st place winner: ubuandibeme, with 148 points, including house identification of O Boticário for Row 4, Bottle 8.
 • 2nd place winners: Tavorna and lizzie_j, with 143 points.
 • 3rd place winners: musse, anamari, and chaoskitty, with 139 points, including musse's sole identification of Otto Kern Ypno pour femme (Row 1, Bottle 5)
 • Honorable mention: Asha, who gallantly sent in an entry after the deadline. (Please, please, please consider trying next month's contest, too.)

Congratulations, everyone! The participants will be contacted regarding prizes as soon as possible. :bounce: Thank you so much for playing!

Only 4 bottles remained unidentified at the end:
 • Row 2, Bottle 8: Gilles Cantuel, So British for Women
 • Row 4, Bottle 6: L.T. Piver, Mascarade (bottle by Depinoix, c. 1927)
 • Row 4, Bottle 8: O Boticário Anfora Thaty (LE designed by Rick Castro)
 • Row 7, Bottle 6: Another O'Boticário, Connexion Woods for men

Many thanks to those who played and those who helped!

Wow, there were lots of o'Boticario bottles in there! I found one, and later found a second one, thinking to myself "Silly! Why didn't I find that when I found the first one?!" Now I see I missed 2 others, gosh! Absolutely thrilled to be tied second place, I would have never thought it! Congrats to everyone else, and especially ubuandibeme - WOW!

Thanks for a wonderful competition, Tang! I had a lot of fun with it, even if it was frustrating at times. I'm soooo excited for a Pink Bottle and Purple Bottle competion!! I'll definitely want to compete in those!
Congratulations to the winners! Where else on the 'Net or in real life everybody who participated was awarded a winning place or an honorable mention?

Thank you, tang, for your time and your efforts in making our life more coloful!

I also encourage everyone to help tang in what she is doing (educating and entertaining), be it an idea of what bottle to include, a prize suggestion or a prize itself. She is a one-man-band and there is NO big corporation with almost unlimited funds behind her.

I know the magic word -- Please!
Congratulations ubuandibeme!!!

Also congrats to Tavorna, lizzie_l, anamari and chaoskitty, of course!

Tang! You are such a darling putting together these ab fab competitions BIG THANKS!

(I must admit I even began to google ebay in pure despair..., but the only thing I found out from that place is that White Diamonds by Elizabeth Taylor/Arden must be a VERY popular/unpopular frag)
Congratulations Ubeuandibeme! (I've only just realised what your name reads, I've been trying to pronounce it in my head all this time)

Fab contest thanks Tang, and it's good to find out what some of the mysterious ones actually were!
Wow... congrats everyone and thanks again Tang! I'm also looking forward to pink and purple... but I don't think anything tops aqua/turquoise

OT: Confession here too: I still can't make them letters together read as a word (in my mind I think "Miss U with a long name").

NOW I get it! "you be you and I be me" (I thought it was something African...)

Ha! What a great suprise...to wake up and see I made the winners list!!! Thanks Tang and congrats to all, these challenges are fun (albeit nerve wrecking as well!)! Relieved to finally know the identity of the last ones I couldn't locate.

Glad you guys are "getting" my moniker!

Thanks again!
Hehe, thanks Tang. Here I was so excited that I could finally participate, and...oops! <blush>

I am excited about the new colors!
I love the democratic nature of ubeu's name. Congratulations on your triumph!

Cold compresses all around for the fried brains of the competitors.

My admiration for Tang grows and glows.

A joke no one will get: If the Orange Crush Winner wrote music, JazzTweety could perform a night of ubeuandibeme & eubieblake.
Congrats to all! Tang this one was a great challenge. It's so interesting to see the slight variations that can change the answers. It was great fun, as usual. I look forward to getting them all one of these days....LOL!
Congrats UBUANDIBEME! My hat's off to you!

Also to everyone else as well. Great job!

Runs around screaming. Nothing, I repeat nothing is ever exclusive to Harrods, like seriously. Last summer they tried to tell me NR for Him was exclusive to them, when i'd had about 3 SAs from different shops spritz it at me! The Theo Fennell scent sleeve (which is pricey, at around £300!) is also available at Harvey Nichols. I'm not having a go at you, I just felt the need to say this as I can't stand that overpriced tourist emporium.
