SotD - Friday, 16th May 2008 - Page 2

For Scent Sychronization Day I wanted to wear Bwah de Eel. (I like eels!)

But, knowing that many would already be wearing the one Chanel that cooperates with me uncomplainingly, I decided to go with

Chanel No. 22 parfum (circa early/mid 80s).

I have a tough time wearing Chanel's signature aldehydic topnotes, but I am finally getting the incense thing others talk about with this scent. Particularly 30 minutes in.

I wonder if that incense is a result of wearing 22 with Secret Vanilla Chai Anti-Perspirant. This anti-perspirant has a shockingly strong and tenacious scent. The combination of vanilla pudding under my arms and No. 22 on the pulse points seems to improve both.

But again, my nose is still wonky and can't be trusted.

Happy Birthday Schachman! Circa1905 is right, you are a class act!

Gabrielle Rose, my young and lovely wife, joins us for SSD in Bois des Iles.

------------------------------

I stand corrected, SotD is Coco Mademoiselle. SotE will be Bois des Iles

Add one more to the list for:
Bois des Iles
I used to love Bulgari Omnia until I bought a bottle that had probably been sitting on a shelf in a little, un-airconditioned store in Boston for years. The black pepper top notes had overtaken the entire scent. I lamented, "Where would I ever find that nice gingerbread-sandalwood again?"
Years later, kumquat introduced me to this beautiful Chanel.
Warm, soft, sweet, delicious without being gourmand. Airy, diffusive, yet stays close to the skin. Beautiful like a light musk.
What's not to love?
I wish Chanel would put it back in the perfume counters.
I love Chanel in general--the house seems to go with my skin chemistry and my personality. Today I had a difficult time deciding, but eventually settled on:

*********Coco EDP*********

It was at one time my "signature scent". This was around the time it first came out in the 80's. I wore it for many years in all concentrations, and had all the body products. I eventually stopped wearing it some time in the late 90's. I still love its powdery, spicy, floral combination. It is really the only thing at the time which could push Coty Wild Musk of its throne, lol

Today's SSD choices are:

Cuir de Russie applied in the morning
Bois des Iles spritzed on in the afternoon
Allure Sensuelle for bed

I'll be wearing the EDT versions. As they only last about 6 hours on me... I can wear three different scents in one day.

Les Exclusifs Bel Respiro
Always the odd duck, I figured I'd be alone in my choice for this transparent, chemical concoction. I can't defend my affinity for it with any obvious praises--it's really odd stuff, but like iso-e super, there's something artificially attractive there. It's sort of floral, with cucumber-like lightness, but some Chanel-like woodiness. Luca Turin, who gives it 4 stars, says "it may end up appealing to the phalanx of women who don't really like perfume." To quote Bugs Bunny, "He don't know me vewwy well, do he?"
Happy B-Day, Schachman--I don't know you (yet), and that appears to be my loss.
SMM--You have run the atomizer gauntlet and have truly gone tribal.
WordBird--Congrats on becoming a real woman.

Nothing. I actually forgot. Id tracked down and tried two Chanel samples, Bois des Iles and Cuir de Russie and was all set to wear the latter. Have to wait until I get home now.

Happy Birthday SCHACHMAN! Cheers!

It's CUIR DE RUSSIE for me today. One of the few Chanels that I get along with. I don't love it, but at least it's not a scrubber!

Have a great day all!

As part of the synchronization day:

Chanel
Égoïste

And loving it!

Though believe it or not, I actually UNDER applied it.

For the day I wanted to continue with my L'Artisan sampling:

DZING!... first one I liked but it's not amazing... this house is odd and feels really depressing to me. Perhaps the Mandarine Tout will pick up my spirits for tomorrow.

For the evening I'll be wearing Chanel Allure for SSD.

Darn, forgot about Chanel day on BN.

Today I have Mitsouko parfum on the right arm - am getting the fruity peach accord now - and Jicky parfum on the left arm - dry lavender/slightly soapy; not as crisp as the EDT formulation on me. I'm smelling pretty good, if I do say so.

For Chanel day, I would have worn Antaeus, just for the fun of it.

I think I'll go with Chanel Pour Monsieur Concentrée.

Il Bacio for daytime then Miss Dior Cherie for evening. A little Coco Mademoiselle for bedtime as I forgot about the Chanel day. Il Bacio, Miss Dior Cherie and Coco Mademoiselle are a delightful girly trio in my wardrobe, all sweet notes and femininity - if they were a girl group they'd be the Supremes!

Thanks everyone for your kind wishes!! I am enjoying the day greatly (as it was finally announced officially at work that I will be moving to France in January!) - and I hope you all enjoy(ed) it equally!!!

Party... my house... tomorrow!! (ok... day after birthday, but I didn't want to be constrained by work and busy schedules!)

This evening I'm wearing a sample of Vintage Tabarome from a gift from TwoRoads. I have really started enjoying this fragrance more and more, and it looks like an imminent purchase!

Thanks again everyone!
