Can we talk about Bois Blond by Parfumerie Generale?

OK, so I was glancing at the Basenotes Award winning fragrances, and in the Womens Best Niche Fragrance, the winner was a unisex cologne by Parfumeri Generale, Bois Blond.

Honestly, I have never heard any discussion about BB here on the mens boards. Have any of you guys worn it (owned it?) and care to share what all the fuss is about.

The cereal accord mixed with the tobacco and grass notes sounds like this might be a love/hate kind of a scent.

Anyone..?

I've got a sample (Thanks Barry!) I'm going to put some on now

Edit: Just put some one, I get peppery grassyness, and a strong cedar vibe. Like a damp, cold forest. Hard to describe.

Ok, I have been postponing this purchase ever since sniffing and falling in love with it 4 years ago (don't know why). This will be my next purchase once I move. Anybody who loves dry, grassy, vetiver, hay, narcissus, absinthe (wormwood), oakmoss, herbal scents should definitely check this out. One of PG's standouts.

It's good! I went through quite a lot before I swapped my bottle away.
Dry/sweet cedar, hay, and tobacco with a slightly sharp green/grassy undertone and a rounded ambery drydown -- actually haven't found anything else quite like it yet.

P.S. It was swapped last year along with Bois d'Argent for a bottle of Chanel's Sycomore.

Very distinctive and silky. Discrete, but lasts forever. One of the best PG's (although they are all very good). That being said, I would not wear it myself and that's just because a BN member mentioned 'dried fish' in his review and that's been haunting me ever since.

Sounds nice.

I still haven't smelled this nor encountered a sample/tester.

Dried fish? Yikes!

Everyone else has described it perfectly - it's a very nice sharp woodsy fragrance, but for me it isn't a standout in the line.

Neither is here...I called the italian distributor for Parfumerie Generale and, appearantly, it's not available for my territory...

Nothing, NOTHING like dried fish! LOL! Seriously, you have to try this stuff. It has a hay quality similar to the Narcissus scents by L'artisan but drier and harsher.

Did you try emailing PG for a sample? They've sent some to me in the past.

scent, ausliebezumduft.de has it!
I loved the opening, but it went no-where (dull) for me. I think I am almost quoting Luca Turin, but I am with him here.

i have a full bottle which i have been lucky enough to find quite cheaply on ebay. for me it's one of the driest pierre guillaume creations, imagine the driest sun scorched hay (or a field of grain) under a hot august sun, combined with amber (which is not sweet), slight tobacco and woods (cedar), quite a serious perfume if i may add. longevity is phenomenal, and what really sets it apart from the rest of the pg line is the lack of sweetness/gourmand notes. i personally find it quite unique and unlike anything out there.
who came up with dried fish??? you must be tripping, lol.

I absolutely adore this scent. In fact this was my first niche scent purchase. It smells like dried grass in summer.

Sadly, this is one of the few scents I'm truly allergic to. Sneezing, coughing, skin rash... Something in this my body doesn't like.

I bought a half-full bottle recently. I had sampled it before and liked it quite much, but when I wore it a few weeks ago, I couldn't find the love anymore. Maybe it was the scorching heat we have here in July, I suspect this one doesn't perform well in the heat.
As said above, it is a sweet dry wood (no sweetness added to the wood itself) and hay. No dried fish! I didn't get huge longevity out of it, but then again, this may also have to do with the heat.

I love this fragrance, but not so much that I'll have the sniffles all day when they are other fragrances I love that leave me alright.

I know, I fail at suffering for art.
