Just for fun...the SixCats! NON Niche challenge!

Thread Starter
Hi all,

Ah, rumor has it that a VIP Perfumer Inspector is soon to come over to your place to inspect/rate your collection of NON-Niche fragrances. So, NO expensive (say over fifty dollars a bottle) fragrances such as CREED, MPG, LV, MONTALE, SMN, SERGE LUTENS, DIPTYQUE, etc. allowed. Only NIB bottles. This time, size does not matter as long as it's at the fifty dollar price point. OK then, what reasonably priced THREE fragrances would be included in your collection ? What are the THREE fragrances that's shows you are a "Man of the World" and have good taste ? What reasonably priced fragrance shows you are a class act ? What fragrances show you have UNIQUE taste ? Sure, this is just for fun, but I'm truly going to give this some thought!

As of tonight, my THREE choices would be :

Guerlain HERITAGE
YSL KOUROS
L'eau D'Issey (Blue)

Regards,
SixCats!

All, I think, at least as good as their fragrance family counterparts done by niche houses. It's an interesting question, and puts the niche thing in useful perspective. I'd be happy as a clam wearing mostly non-niche stuff.

Nice choices people! Bravo!
Lately, I have been left out from Basenotes. I feel like there are overhyped scents everywhere. On this thread they are all winners! Not one I would leave out.

Three that have not been mentioned.

Looking at the replies so far, there are some truly terrific scents out there on the shelves of our local department stores, chemists and on-line. Better still, they can often be purchased on sale (usually in the post-Christmas/Father's Day/etc periods).

Michael for Men - Michael Kors
Third Man - Caron

More honourable mentions:

Kouros - YSL

I don't have many bottles for which I paid less than $50 (since I usually by 100mL), but if the caveat is that it must be designer:

Mugler Cologne - $40
Rochas Man - ~$40
L'Eau D'Issey Summer (female version) - $60

I'd say my three favourites:

Burberry "London"
Dior "Fahrenheit 32"
and my new "must have"
Dior "Homme"

People where can you get havana for less than 50 dls?

TPC sells 5 ml for 40 dls... but I guess that is not the point Six Cats is aiming for...

Online discounters have many for under 50 (ok... maybe testers... but they are still less than $50! )

For example:
