Colognes that last, and last, and last

Well, a sample of Fougere Bengale by Parfums d'Empire has to be up there. I thought after 12 hours that it was at least 50% as strong as it was when I put it on.

Hey, finfan - do you like Fougere Bengale - I know I've been pushing for you to try it.

See my list of scent s for dry skin - They all have near the lasting power of Fougere Bengale

Acqua di Cuba - Santa Maria Novella has stupid longevity on me. I cannot wash it off. I was sitting in the 'Sex and the City' movie last night and caught a wiff of it. I put one dab on the back of my hand 24 hours before. Yikes!!
For me (I don't have dry skin):

Creed - Millesime Imperial
Creed - Himalaya
Bond No. 9 - Central Park
Thierry Mugler - Mugler Cologne

Habit Rouge
Guerlian Vetiver
Versace L'homme
Creed Vintage Tabarome
Opium PH EDT

Black Aoud most definately. One walk-through spray lasts ridiculously long. I have to dissagree that Aqcua Viva lasts though. I get better longevity out of Eau D'Orange Vert.
Second on the Black Aoud.

Also:
Lorenzo Villoresi Piper Nigrum
Tom Ford Tuscan Leather
Lubin L'eau Neuve
Havana for Men
Aramis JHL
Balanciega Cristobol
Halston Catalyst
Rochas Man
Serge Luten Fumerie Turque
Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier Parfum d'Habit

So far out of what I own / have decants of:
le Male is still king... Quite often I'll still be able to smell it 24 hours after spraying it on, even after a shower with soap!
Bogart pour Homme comes very close. I wore this to uni at 8 am once, I was still there at 2 am the next morning, and so was Bogart! (cheers Dimitrios for the decant)
Dolce & Gabanna pour Homme lasts quite a while, although some days more than others. My sprayer also is a bit dodgy on this bottle, only seems to put out 'puffs' rather than 'sprays.'
Claiborne Sport also has ridiculously good longevity for an EDC. I get about 10-12 hours out of it most times, even then it is still there, but only faintly.

Runners up to the above would include PS London, Rive Gauche & Zino.

Beck, I ordered a sample of the Fougere and did not dislike it, but did not 'crave' it either. Chasefairfax found great deals on some MIller Harris and I am getting him to get me a bottle of that for the price he listed. At that price, it is about as expensive as some designer scents (Dirty English) and even if it is not as long as I would like, makes a great scent nonetheless.

Tauer's L'Air du Desert Morocain lasts well enough on me, and I agree about the Tabarome. My nose was so used to the GIT and MI that I would say that last long, but having worn them for 4 or 5 years, I needed a break.

Chergui lasts better on me than Fumerie and I would say Fumerie should be up there with Fougere Bengale

On my skin Annick Goutal Sables lasts for 48 hours (I now use half or quarter of a spray). Body Kouros lasts for more than 24 hours, and Terre d'Hermes lasts with strong projection for more than half a day, afterwards it just stays close to the skin until I wash it off.

That's why I list the dry skin thing. The 4 you mentioned don't last even 5 minutes on me. In fact, I did have a bottle of Millesime Imperial. I kept spraying and not even smelling a thing. One day I just gave myself 20 plus sprays and still nothing, so I tossed it in the trash along with a bottle of Royal Mountain Water. You guys that don't have dry skin in conjuction with dry climate are so lucky. You have many more options than I.
YSL Rive Gauche - lasts 12-18 hours 1 spray on skin, but if you get it on anything else but skin (like my metal watch band) - lasts 72+ hours.
Frags that last at least 24 hours on me:

Hannae Mori H.M.
Michael Kors' Michael for Men
Bulgari Black
Jil Sander Feeling Man
PdN New York

It's a negative in my book, though. Anything that lasts more than 12 hours gets washed off - I can't take any frag longer than that.

If you lose the smell in 5 minutes - it will be nose fatigue as even the most fleeting fragrance (topnotes only) will stick around at least 20 minutes. With the Creed base, the chemical will last a long time on your skin.

I am pretty sure if you put on 20 sprays and could not smell it - regardless of perfume type - and you were unable to smell it - you would have serious nose fatigue and everyone else will smell that you put 20 sprays on! Like the little old lady wearing a large dose of White Diamonds but unable to smell it.

Advice - take a fragrance break - and don't wear ANY fragrance for 1 week then you will be surprised that you can smell it again at 1 spray and it will last a much longer time than you perceived it before!

The Cinnamon King !! Diesel Zero Plus
... still evident 12 hours later & on a deep inhale around a 24 hrs later !!
I agree with many of the recommendations above (well, except for Piper Nigrum). I will add:

Neroli by L'Occitane
Norma Kamali Incense by Norma Kamali
Black Orchid by Tom Ford

Eau D'Orange Verte.....JUST KIDDING!

Paco Rabanne is a monster. lasts for hours and hours and hours....

Mat: Men is also really powerful....

Actually, it is the Creed base that is the problem for my skin. I have not been able to get one Creed with any lasting power at all. That's why I bash Creed. When I can't get one to work then something is wrong. Now take Montale for instance. Everything Montale works for me. Same goes for Parfumarie Generale. I just have to pick the ones I like. Montale's ingredients are just so superior and longer lasting than Creed it's not even a contest.

By the way I always do what you suggest and give it a break and go back. I always spend a little more money and get 2.5ml decants so I can spend more time and several wearings getting to know whether I like something or not. Some of the best frags actually take some time to appreciate.

Second the Sables - it lasts a LONG time......

A lot of Creed fragrances last a long time on me, but maybe I have just been blessed with youthful, supple skin

One I forgot (from my drobe):

Ralph Lauren - Safari. Easily lasts 20+ hours on me.

There was a thread in the Just Starting Out thread in which this was discussed, and it was suggested that people with dry skin apply lotion immediately after showering (in the shower, scrub with a light exfoliator), and then apply scent immediately after moisturizing.

Have you tried anything like this? I tried and it greatly improved the longevity of several of my frags.

The ones I mentioned don't require this, though.
Good suggestion, Baudilus. I will add that I have seen a huge difference in my skin's moisture level since switching to tallow soaps. I understand that some may object to these for various reasons, but even the Marseilles olive oil soap I have used leaves my skin moisturized as opposed to dried out by detergent-based body wash/gel.

While I'm not a Creed fanboy (there are several frags that I dislike from this house), I don't think the base not working well with your skin warrants bashing.

When I test a frag that doesn't last on my skin, I simply chalk it up to chemistry and move on.

Even though I have "normal to oily" skin, there are scents that don't last very long at all on me - I don't bash the house because of it.

At any rate - have you tried Virgin Island Water? It doesn't seem to have the common Creed base as Himalaya, MI, etc. (to me it smells like a Mojito).

I don't believe for a minute that it's bad chemistry. My Wife and I have different chemsitry and have the same reaction to all Creeds. I think it's pure and simple. Creed is crap. Just not everyone is willing to deal with it. Yes I've tried VIW. When I want to smell like a pina colada, I'll see a bartenter.

My, such hatred. It sounds like you're angry that you can't enjoy the same ice cream th at everyone else loves, so you say that this ice cream must be crap. :P

Montale Black Aoud
Joop!
Cristobal

PS: I'm not a big fan of Creed, but anyone looking for a Creed with longevity should grab Royal Delight...

It's not about ice cream. I'm sure you have seen in People Magazine - The best and worst dressed movie stars of the year. It always amazes me that the worst dressed don't even realize how bad thay look. When they see their picture they think they look, not realizing people with good taste know they don't.
It's simply a matter of good taste. Some people have it, and some don't. Yes, I do get passionate about bad taste, whether its food, perfume or clothes. I'm just so happy that I have good taste in all three categories.

It seems most wine connoisseurs can agree between good and bad, then rate the good ones a little bit different as should be. Food critics don't take into account fast food or chains as being gourmet as should be. I'm not sure why perfume enthusiasts can't agree on good and bad, then there is room for discussion between the good ones. It's probably because there aren't enough professionals rating the perfumes. It's just us amateurs at basenotes. Hopefully most of us will aquire good taste through experience and we can stop having discussions about garbage.

Sean John Unforgivable -- Somebody make it stop!

The new "King" for men "drugstore frag" is *advertised* as lasting 15 hours. I put some on yesterday afternoon and I can still detect traces on my skin. No, I haven't showered yet.

I understand about the lotion thing, but then, why is it that I can spray Tauer LDDM on the back of my hand at 6:30 and at 3:15, still smell it at about 50% strength and then I can spray Feuilles de Tabac and at the same duration, it is not even present? I know what some frags use more essential oils or more or less denatured alcohol to deliver the scent, but maybe some notes just absorb into my skin while others do not.

Did anyone see the scents at Luckyscent where they use water instead of alcohol? I forgot which one (saw it in passing) but opinions on that?

I did decide to get some Feuilles as a summer scent since it does last longer than say Acqua di Parma or Tangerine Homme by Calypso.

Nobody mentioned A*men (unless I missed it...)

I sampled Terre d'Hermes and it lasted a long time. I could smell it on my sweatshirt that I wore days later.

Of the ones I own, the longest lasting is AdP Colonia Assoluta. Thanks goodness it smells so great!

Black Aoud
Ambre Sultan

Jacomo de Jacomo - Sillage and lasting powerhouse
Creed Himalaya - Lasts on me but only if I do 20-25 sprays
Black Aoud / Aoud Lime - Long lasting as compared to my other frags
MKK - Again, long lasting

A*men
Azzaro Visit
SL Chergui
Joop Homme

These last at least 12 hours on me, which is saying something because my skin destroys scents. From personal experience, I find that the sweeter Orientals are the longest lasting.

Of course Roberto makes a good observation. When I use Costume National Scent I can expect a good ten to twelve hours whereas Scent Intense is roughly twice that. That little p on the end of ed makes quite the difference.
