The Cleanest, Freshest Fragrance Available?

I want a fragrance that smells like the cleanest, freshest, most crisp refreshing smell possible. Does anyone know which one that is?
I'll go with Mugler Cologne.
Eau de Cartier Concentree...you'll be bowled over my freind..

I hate to sound like a downer, but I wasn't too impressed with those. Versace The Dreamer & Philosophy's Amazing Grace are the closest thing to most clean and fresh fragrances I've smelled. I thought there might be more out there. Thanks for the suggestions though! Any more?

L'Artisan Fou d'Absinthe or
i Profumi di Firenze Fresco di Vetiver

Dreamer doesn't smell clean & fresh. A bit fresh it might be, but definitely not clean. If you didn't like Mugler cologne, then give Dlish Clean Man a shot.

Mugler cologne.. it has this slightly sour smell that I don't like about it. I want something more.. soapy & laundry cotton.

And I'll check that out.

For some reason, Silver Mountain Water by Creed sounds like it would fit the description I want? Clean and fresh? Or am I just judging a cologne by its cover?

Soapy and Laundry = Gendarme 20.

i spray all my clothes with it because then they smell like i just took them out the drier .....pure, blissful lavender.

Bright, Cheerful and Zesty = Outrageous! by Frederic Malle.
Puro Lino smells like geraniums and ivory soap. I have never tried anything that fits the clean, soapy smell like this one. Luckyscent has samples.
Gendarme 20 is a good suggestion and so is checking out Clean's fragrances. You just HAVE to find something fitting there. Also check out Gendarme's Carriere.

Also, try getting a hold of a decant (a sample just won't do it) of Comme des Garcons Odeur 53. Ultrafresh and quirky, I still love it many years after I first smelled it.

Go read about Odeur 53 on Luckyscent's webiste: http://www.luckyscent.com/shop/detai...1600&section=1
post #11 of 56
Geir by Geir Ness, it's a BN favourite.
Try some stuff from the Clean range from Dlish... Clean Men is soapy fresh; Clean Fresh Laundry smells like, uh, fresh clean laundry; and take a guess what Clean Warm Cotton smells like.

Only Clean Men is listed as a "Men's" fragrance, but the other two are certainly wearable for men. Clean Men was certainly the best of the three in my opinion, but this isn't really my favorite category of fragrance.
Clean Men is nauseatingly fresh. It smells like you just washed yourself in a tart fruit salad. You can get 1oz bottles on beauty.com. Paying $100+ at a department store would be a little silly.

This may seem from out in left field but Prada (amber pour homme) has a strong, distinct soap note that I find to invoke cleanliness. The new Hugo Boss Pure is pretty darn grapefruity fresh as well.

Yes,sir - Puro Lino - "The Ultimate Clean Scent" I think I'll just make that my SOTD today.
Philosophy Pure Grace (as opposed to Amazing Grace) - marketed as "pure soap and water notes" - and it does smell like that

Also as mentioned previously:

Puro Lino
Mugler Cologne
Gendarme
Clean Men (or the other Clean fragrances)
Not an upscale fragrance, but I remember Lacoste Cool Play to be extremely fresh. Not sure whether it's laundry-fresh, but it should be easy to try out given its availability.
I'll go with Nightflight and Live Jazz. Nightflight has the most fresh opening - it will literally clear your head and sinuses. Live Jazz because IMO I have not found anything else that could be liberally sprayed on a 40 degree day and not become nauseating.
I would suggest you to try the overlooked Dunhill Fresh.Very fresh indeed....
When I think of clean scents, my mind jumps to:

Pleasures for Men by Estee Lauder
Clinique Chemistry
Eddie Bauer Pure

My favorite part about these scents is I don't detect any cheap Juniper Berry in them.

Clinique's Happy would probably fit the bill, although I'm not recommending it because I detect the aforementioned foul Juniper Berry smell. But if you like that, you may want to try it.
Gendarme
Tommy T
Gucci Nobile
Anucci
Lanvin
Clinique Happy
Paco Rabanne
Fracas for Men or Chaleur
I think these worth a try:
Bois 1920 Sandalo E - More on the clean semi-sweet lemony side
Frapin - Caravelle Epicee - more on the crisp side with a strong mint note
post #24 of 56
I would go with Gendarme or Geir. Two different scents but both very clean. The Clean line by D'lish I find to be a bit cloying and not for me. I would try to get samples of all recommended fragrances before blind buying any of them. There are even a few mentioned here that I haven't yet tried, but may get samples to test. For those who say Mugler Cologne you may also add Creed OV.
It sounded like Mugler Cologne didn't sit very well... I agree that it doesn't smell fresh really. Or it does, but it has two sides. The darker part is almost cinnamon like, standing with one foot in Musc Ravageur territory.
I must agree with Ruggles and the beck, having smelled my fair share of 'clean' scents, Puro Lino by Puro Lino is fantastic. Please try this JordanRoss.
I'd go w/ 1805 by Truefitt & Hill.
First that came to mind was Dryclean and Soda by Comme Des Garcons.
Vetiver Extraordinaire by Frederic Malle
"Clean" by Sephora.
To me Azzaro Silver Black is a very nice clean and fresh, affordable scent.
Estee lauder pleasures for men, muggler cologne those would be the 2 id pick. I have pleasures and soon will have muggler cologne
post #33 of 56
When I want to feel cleanest and freshest I use Acqua di Parma, because it makes me feel that way. No idea whether it will make you think of clean laundry and clean moments though.

I'm having AdP Assoluta on my right hand, Azzaro Silver Black on left hand whole day: both are clean and fresh There's not much common in them, which shows that clean and fresh can be very different things.
I agree that Geir is about as fresh as fresh can be.
Floris Special No. 127 smells like special laundry detergent.
Penhaligon's English Fern has that classic fresh yet sophisticated smell.

Bahiana by Maître Parfumeur et Gantier is fresh but sweet.

Original Vetiver smells almost exactly like Mugler Cologne.

Geir Ness is an airy freshness that's kind of odd to me.

I´d recommend this, or if you can´t find Comme des Garcons try any of the other laundry scents that are available. Library of Fragrane has a cheap one that is pretty clean and easy.

Or one of the humeurs from l´artisan is very airy and clean.

Other scents that might come across as clean might be green tea scents?
Sorry (peeking head in, blurting answer, then closing door quickly behind me to avoid flying tomatoes)... I feel very clean when I wear Unforgivable.... JordanRoss, once you've been here a while that will make more sense Welcome to basenotes...

I think Bulgari Pour Homme smells extremely fresh and clean. I love it.
Lots of "clean smelling" comments with Mugler Cologne, Bulgari Pour Homme and Versace Man Eau Fraîche.

Oops, I forgot that one. It's more airy than anything else listed, though.
This thread is anything but boring so here's another suggestion - Fissore Rapsodia in blu,
The scent begins as a crisp citrusy and actually behaves like a good Chardone and it dries into a clean watery scent that keeps for several hours, longer than I'd thought it would given its gentle nature.
I saw Geir mentioned - in my opinion, it's too powdery to be considered "clean", especially some time after application.
At first I was going to suggest Mugler Cologne or Original Vetiver, but it sounds like you don't like those.

I would also suggest:

Creed - Green Irish Tweed. To me it smells a bit like Zest.
Chanel Allure Homme Edition Blanche - it's very clean and very powdery.
lanvin l'homme is the essence of clean, and super cheap online to boot.
Kouros!

My suggestion is only half in jest. I actually find Kouros very clean and refreshing. Besides, if the OP thinks The Dreamer smells clean, then all the Gendarme (one of my very favorites too), etc. recommendations may be pointing in the wrong direction.
Roger & Gallet Vetyver. Being discontinued, it appears, but inexpensive and soapy-fresh.
I'd like to suggest Carriere by Carriere as well.

Notes:
Citrus, soft florals, bergamot, lavender, lilac and jasmine.
Paul Smith Extreme is clean in crisp in a different way than most of the others mentioned so far.

It smells like driftwood that has been stripped clean by the sun, ocean and age. It doesn't smell like clean laundry or soap, but in it's own way, it's very clean.
Tommy T is the cleanest, crispest scent which is very fresh that I own.

But for the longest lasting freshest scent, I'd go for Azzaro Chrome - not the cleanest because it smells like something, whereas I haven't a clue what Tommy T smells like.

Laundromat by Demeter smells extremely clean - but one would probably feel very silly wearing it.
Renato
I like Trumper Skye
Jacques Fath - Green Water
I consider "Himalaya" by Creed the cleanest, freshest fragrance available. But if you consider The Dreamer by Versace, something near to your goal, I would recommend "Prada Amber Pour Homme": In the same family as Dreamer. (Oriental-Fougere and Soapy).
Also give these ones a try:
-Lacoste Cool and Hot Play
-Lanvin L'Homme
-cK one summer variations
-Cool Water summer editions...

But is is Carriere by Gendarme isn't it? Luckyscent has that screwed up somehow...
There is another one:

Rive Gauche Pour Homme.
I just smelled Heely Sel Marin for the first time yesterday (on a strip). It is very clean, almost like a sea breeze. It might be worth a try.

For some more commonly attainable scents, I second Cool Water and also suggest Issey Miyake L'eau d'Issey pour Homme. Estee Lauder Beyond Paradise for Men is also very good.
