I've come to find that Amber is a note that I really enjoy. I'd like to add one more scent that revolves around the note to my wardrobe -- so which one of these would you choose and why would you make it your favorite over the others? In the end, my nose will be the guide anyway -- but I'd really love to hear and see your choices.

There have been several posts on amber frag in the past -- but let's hear it again. Once more, this time with feeling! (and a poll)

Parfum d'Empire Ambre Russe is what I reach for when I'm in the mood for some Amber. I wear Baldasserini's Ambre too, sometimes
post #3 of 47
Ambre Précieux, followed by the superb Ambre Russe and Profumum's Ambra Aurea.

I only ever tried two amber scents from the list you mentioned and I wasnt woed by the l´Artisan one. Not enough amber but a whole lot of powder weird make up smell.
I might have ti try Amber extreme from them for a real amber hit.

I do like the l´Occitane amber scent though.

Montale's Blue Amber satisfies my amber needs quite nicely. A bit jarring at first, then it's smooth sailing.
I voted MPG, but i think we should have two optins......i also like Hermèssence Ambre Narguilé
post #7 of 47
Voted for the Hermessence, but I rather liked L'Occitane's Amber too.

i Profumi di Firenze's Ambra di Vaniglia.

A nice golden amber with a hint of vanilla (a vanilla I like - not an overpowering note and smells like vanilla).

My vote goes for Armani's Amber from the Prive Line.

Ah yes...Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier - Ambre Precieux

Where do you find all these niche scents in India, Javagreen?:-)

I still have found no peer to Ambre Sultan and Ambre Precieux. Pressed to choose one, I'd take Ambre Sultan, just because it's sharp herbal accord makes it a touch more edgy and distinctive.

oh an Amber sultan is gathering pace!!! i havent sniffed any of em but amber sultan is in transit and i would receive the package any moment from today!!

MPG is a clear winner...must be a nice one..

Not in India, all sourced via a friend who frequently travels abroad and also is a perfume lover like I am

Of the ones I've tried, I went with the MPG for sheer wearability. Sometimes I like the SL and the Parfum d'Empire ambers as well, but I've noticed that sometimes the rich (dare I say clutter?) of notes in the latter two get on my nerves after a while. That never happens with the MPG.

I'm just discovering ambers. I've only tried 1/2 of the ones on this list. My favorite so far is not on the list; Il Profumo's Ambre d'Or. From this list I enjoy Etro Ambra, Ambre Sultan, and the MPG one. I suspect it will not be long before I have a collection of ambers.

Strangely, I enjoy the ultra-rich Amber Sultan more but find that Ambre Precieux and Blue Amber are much easier for me to wear and therefore -- is more practical as a full bottle buy. Kinda like choosing between a Lotus Exige and a Merc SLK. They're both sweet cars, and the Exige is much more fun to drive, but an SLK would be more practical as it is much more comfortable to be in despite having worse performance, handling, etc.

Ambre Narguilé is really nice as well, but the price is a bit too hardcore for my tastes. (I'd rather get a couple of bottles) This would be the Porsche.

Right now, I have the different amber frags on different sides of the both of my arms and am definitely going to be sleeping in amber heaven tonight.

Serge Lutens or MPG's offerings - but if pressed I would go with MPG's.
L'Artisan's Eau d'Ambre is the one I've enjoyed most.

1) Ambre Sultan...SL
2) Blue Amber...Montale
3) Ambre Precieux...MPG

Parfumerie Generale L'Ombre Fauve. Animalic amber. Intriguing phases, which seems to be a hallmark of PG.
Of the ambers I've tested (Sultan, Russe, Montale Blue Amber, Baldasserini Ambre) I prefer Sultan. However, I have always wanted to try the MPG... might have to find a sample!

The most beautiful amber fragrance I have ever smelled is Ambre et Diamant Noir by Ambregris. I have been wearing it now for more than five years and I never grew tired of it.

Second choice would be Ambre Sultan.

Ambre Sultan--(Ambr' not Am-BRAY)

Molinard Ambre

For mainly amber dominating fragrances:

Amber Absolute
Ambre 114
Ambre Sultan
Ambra Aurea
For me, it would be a very close competition between Ambre Sultan and Prada Amber.

Other: Les Nombres d'Or Ambre by Mona di Orio

Boss collection velvet & amber

hands down, Ambre Nera by SS.F
This poll has been done before with a more complete list. I only mention that since my favorites are not on it.

1. Ambre Nuit by Christian Dior - an incredible amber. Rich and deep but at the same time not too sweet and dominating. Easy to wear to work or on nights out.
2. Amber Absolute Tom Ford
3. Ambre 114 - do not buy a full bottle of Blue Amber or Ambre Precieux without trying this first as they are very similar but I prefer this one.
I like Profumum Roma's Fiori d'Ambre very much. I also like Atelier's Ambra Nui, which opens with a lovely orange topnote. Combined with the amber it's wonderful. On the drydown, the amber is sweet but does not preclude a man from wearing it.
Tom Ford Amber Absolute
I voted for other. Although I have several "top" amber fragrances, my hands down favorite is Hermes L'Ambre des Mervielles.

This original poll/thread dates from 2008, before scents like Ambre Nuit were released. Of course, I must say the original poll did miss out some good ambers like Amber Absolute and Ambre 114 which were already on the market.

Surprised Halston Amber man didn't get a mention.
^ That's because this poll is from 2008!

I'd say Halston Amber Man/Prada Amber Intense
