Serge Lutens Iris Silver Mist
Serge Lutens Borneo 1834
Parfums de Nicolaï New York
Piguet Fracas
Lorenzo Villoresi Teint de Neige
Lorenzo Villoresi Garofano
Guerlain Spiritueuse Double Vanille

What do you guys think about these? They haven't arrived yet but I'm really excited! Looking forward to ISM the most!

EDIT: could a mod fix the silly error in the title?

That looks like a fun list! Enjoy the Fracas cafe fully.

Definitely let us know what you think about your samples - especially Fracas.

Enjoy!

You made a couple great picks there ... personally love Borneo and SDV!

The first time I wore a sample of Iris Silver Mist, I will never forget. Amazing...I can't wait to own some. Plus Borneo 1834 is my very favorite use of chocolate in a scent, this scent brings back a lot of good memories since it was one of my first decants I bought here on Basenotes and just smelling it brings back those times when I was a BN 'newbie' and all the excitement that went with that. Hope you enjoy both!

Spiriteuese Double Vanille is fantastic, but be careful in the summer hot weather with this one...it can get sticky/cloying if worn in the wrong climate. In cooler weather (or perhaps indoors) it's a very wonderful fragrance.

I've never smelled Iris Silver Mist, but I'd like to. The Borneo 1834 gets high praise, and is due to join the export line in the fall of this year, so it should be available in the U. S. after that.

PdN New York and Piguet Fracas are amazing. Don't know the Villoresis you mention, only Incensi. Spiritueuese Double Vanille is great in moderate temperatures.

The first 4 on your list are very special. Good picks!

Thanks for all your posts! I'll be sure to comment on the samples as soon as I've had a chance to try them... They're being sent to me in three different packages btw so I'm getting good value out of what I paid for shipping

Guerlain SDV is good stuff. I need to add some of the others to my list to try such as Fracas and Borneo 1834. Enjoy

One of the finest " ordered samples list" I've read in recent posts.. Enjoy and report back please.

That's a truly great list!

I've got a sample of Villoresi Teint de Neige from Lafco, NYC - quite powdery one me. Let us know if you experience the same.

Today, the first of the three packages arrived. It contained just one sample, but what a nice one: Guerlain SDV!

First impressions
I just put it on (7pm CET) and I get vanilla and something spicy right away. I think it might be clove or cinnamon (I purposely didn't check the notes). It smells very soft, much like a very high quality vanillascented candle.

After five minutes the first wave of sweetness has faded away a little and has been replaced by a more pungent smell. I can't put my finger on it but it almost has that burned sensation which reminds me of Bulgari Black.

Fifteen minutes in a woody note emerges but it's very faint. I also get a faint peppery note alongside the wood. The smell has really started to warm up, almost as if it's on fire!

An hour in
Almost all of the early sweetness has disappeared. A much darker scent now tickles my nostrils. I believe there's a healthy dose of amber in there and something animalic as well but it's no musk. I'm amazed at how strong the smell still is, especially considering the runny nose I have from hayfever. But after this point, the smell's not really changing much anymore.

I really, really like this one, 9/10. Does anyone have an e-mail address of Guerlain so I can ask whether it's still available and how much it costs?

It costs a lot.

Oh and I almost forgot...If you like SDV, next time be sure to include Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille in your order. Trust me.

Thanks for your suggestion!

I got all of the other samples in today, plus the Mogul and Dragon samples from Parfumsraffy. I don't know which one to try next although I suppose it would be fair to first try Mogul & Dragon since they were sent to me for free on the premise that I'd post my thoughts on them...

Merlino - glad to see you're so thoroughly enjoying the SDV sample. It's a beauty, isn't it?

On an old thread on SDV, I posted the price at Bergdorf Goodman (in NY), which will be easier for you to order from than Guerlain in Paris: http://community.basenotes.net/showthread.php?p=1232806

It sure is a beauty! But doesn't Guerlain ship? Since I live in The Netherlands I would think it's easier for me to order directly from them, although it would probably be cheaper to order from The States with the current dollar. Unfortunately, I did a search on bergdorfgoodman.com and it came up empty.

EDIT: I tried mailing info@guerlain.com and contact@guerlain.com but they don't seem to exist. I believe there's a form on the website but it requires you to insert all of your personal information (street address, phone number etc) and I don't feel like doing that for a simple inquiry.

Oops - I didn't realize you weren't in the U.S. Merlino, sorry about that.

Check this thread out - for the info you need (scroll down to the 11th response by gregmech26) where he gives you the contact info for Guerlain Paris: http://community.basenotes.net/showthread.php?t=200208

Mike, I got a reply and ordering a bottle from France would cost me 170 Euros (~ $264). But hey, that includes shipping It'd be about $40 cheaper to get it from The States!

I tried Garofano today and it's one of the most original scents I've ever tried so far! I'm 30 minutes into application right now and at the start I got an overwhelming blast of clove. When that subsided a little I got cinnamon, rose and a little bitter note which I suppose is the gelsomino. I hope they'll be joined by the musk that's supposed to be in the basenotes and stay this way for the rest of the day!

Yesterday's Garofano was a real winner for me! Very very original and I got a very good longevity too while normally fragrances don't really last that long on my skin.

Today's Teint de Neige is a little disappointing compared to Garofano. It's a nice enough smell but not very special on me. I must say that I'd probably find it very uhhm... interesting on a woman! I normally don't really care about gender distinctions but to me TdN is clearly feminine.
