caron parfum sacre - which bottle style to buy?

has anyone noticed a difference in scent? the rectangle shaped bottle with the black label (1.0 oz) on evil bay is 30$, while the 1.7 in the round bottle is 50$, then theres the "classical" bottle which is the tall slightly rounded one with the little dots in the glass 1.7 which can be had as cheap as 28-40$ from different sellers

does anyone know if there are any formula differences between the types of bottles, in terms of esthetics I think I like the boxy 1.0 oz bottle.

Are they all EDT or EDP or ??

Can you post some pics?

I have the Caron book and may be able to match some images up for you.

I think the one that you reffer to as the round bottle sells for 30$ at parfum1.com
I have no idea if they smell different, I would like to know that myself.

It's hardback and vailable at the boutiques - has both French and English text with a lot of pictures. I've found one or two errors in it, but it's absolutely worth having if you're a Caron fan.

My favorite ad is of "Caron coming to America".

It is a shot of the front / bow of an enormous oceanliner with the word "caron", taken from the perspective of sea level, like the ship is going to run you over - and that's it. Beautiful, beautiful ad. I wish I could post the image.

I would simply say an old one.

As far as I can tell:

The tall clear glass rectangular 1 oz EdP bottle with the black label and black cap is the most vintage and the richest, most divine smelling that I've found. From 90s. Comes in black box, with gold lyre and gold lettering. There is also a version in same shape that has a multicolored label. Not sure which is earlier, but both are from the 90s I think. (haven't smelled the colorful label version).

Second oldest is the round bottle. Still smells very good.

tallish, slightly rounded one with little dots/bumps is the more recent. it usually comes in a white box. The musk note smells screechy and artificial to me, but then I'm very sensitive to musks (when I'm not anosmic, LOL).

Hope this helps.

I have the peppercorn one which came out in the 90s. The black is the original then came the gold coloured bottle. There is a version later than the peppercorn as Caron seem to have changed the bottle design a few years back again.
Oh I also own the large Caron Coffee Table book.

The peppercorn one I own is all soft dusty roses and peppery incense. I have sniffed the gold bottle and to me it was the same as the peppercorn or dots bottle version I own.

Oh and there is the new Parfum Sacre Intense version which only came out about a year or so ago. It is the newest version of the fragrance and many just love it.
