Carlos Santana for Men smells nothing like Dior Homme. At all. CS smells kinda like what a "red" (fruity) mix of La Nuit and Armand Basi Homme would smell like.

It's always these two:

The comment is usually "You smell good". My other (more interesting fragrances) are 'inspected' with a sniff and a frown.

Got a surprising number of compliments today, on my first full wearing of Bond No. 9 Riverside Drive, after I finally received my package !

1: Jubilation XXV
2: L'Instant de Guerlain Homme EDP
3: Lyric Man

Those are for sure my best 3.

Good thing this delicious fragrance is not very common in my country and has been my most complimented cologne.
Cool Water. Which isn't something that I even enjoy wearing anymore...
But it's guaranteed to get compliments EVERYWHERE, all the time. It's gotten more compliments than the rest of my entire collection put together by a RIDICULOUS margin.
I've never gotten a single comment anywhere, other than the occassional "you smell good" from my girlfriend, and once at school some skater girl was like "you smell good, what axe is that?" -.-

Maybe ill buy cool water just for the hell of getting a comment from a stranger :P
Then i'll sell it right afterward haha.

Got some love for Silver Mountain Water last night: "You smell delicious"
Went to the office on Wednesday with 2 women at the receptionist desk.

Woman 1: "You smell good."
Woman 2: "Yeah I was just going to say the same thing."
Me: (Smiles) "Thanks."
Woman 1: "What are you wearing?"
Me: "Chanel."
Woman1: "I love that one. My all time favorite is CK Eternity. That is like an aphrodisiac to me."
Me: (Laughs) "I have that one also."
Woman2: "Oh you better write that one down."
Woman1: "Well it was good to see you."
Me: "Same here."
Woman1: (Comes to me and hugs me)
I walk off and smile.

I'm not sure what we are dealing with here, but such a sweeping negative generalisation can be ignored by all.

With the right body chemistry, look and attitude, many, many fragrances will garner compliments.
This includes Tommy and CK Be.

Experienced Basenoters know better than to accuse others of being liars or to insult their fragrance tastes.
If you enjoy Tommy and CK Be, then no one has the right to criticise your taste.

To label those who enjoy Creed (or any other brand) as liars, is simply inappropriate on this forum.
You are either a troll, or you will learn correct manners as you gain Basenotes' experience.
There is a way to express an opinion and criticise fragrances you dislike, without insulting the people who wear them.

Try to learn from the more experienced Basenoters.
You should try to read posts from educated Basenoters such as Scentemental.
You will learn much about fragrance and the proper behaviour of a Basenotes' gentleman.

Well, you do have to move fast if you want compliments from wearing Creed since they do tend to dissapear withing a few hour...

That being said, I agree with Mr. Musky_Monkey. We should try to observe a certain level of "gentlemanship" here and keep the polite tone we already have going.

So lets leave the insults and flamewars to people on forums elsewhere...

Woman at work walked in: "Did you bring food? Or was someone eating...? I don't know....something just smells really good and I'm not sure it's even food!"

Me: "Hmm...some kind of smoked honey served with some kind of leather straw hat container....sounds about right?"

Woman: "YES! THAT! What IS that?"

Me: "It must be this fragrance I'm wearing"

Woman: "WHAT?!? There are stuff out there that smell THAT good?!?"

Me: "Ohhh...you have NO idea...."

Musc Ravageur and Molecule 01

I'm not keen on MR (a tad too sweet and far too much sillage for my liking), but apparently it smells good on me.

Those who are not anosmic to iso e super seem to really like Molecule 01.

I thought id contribute for the younger crowd. I am 19, in college, and these are the fragrances girls around my age seem to love...

Lacoste Essential
Mandarina Duck Pure Black
Versace Eau Fraiche
Gucci by gucci
Creed MI
Paco Rabanne 1 million
Ed Hardy Love and Luck
La Nuit De Lhomme

Wow, unexpected day. I got complimented like everywhere I went today with my first full wearing of Montale Lime Aoud. Really didn't see this as a compliment getter, but did notice it had a huge "bloom". The 3 sprays this morning went from barely noticeable at breakfast to considerable sillage.

Seemed to hit everywhere across the spectrum. First comment was from an employee who I'm cautious about wearing scent around as she is older (over 70) and has breathing problems (although never from anything I've worn that I know of, mostly cleaning products and spray paint). She said I smelled really nice today.

Another comment was from the 30'ish lady at the bakery counter at Whole Paycheck in Memphis.

Then I got a comment from a preteen granddaughter of a lady I was setting up a computer for this afternoon.
^ Aoud Lime is sinister in the first hour but the drydown is very bright and effervescent with the lime and wood

no compliments yet

Allure Homme Sport got me a few tight hugs from a very sexy lady friend

I previously had C4210E01 which was extremely rich with Pineapple. A42b10k02 has the pineapple but the birch in the mid notes is very prominent. Still very good stuff!!!

Take it from a young, good looking man that hits the town weekly to hunt for women.....
YsL L'homme & La Nuit, cause a scene around ladies....I'm not just talking friends or family, but random women......alot of guys have different opinions on these two, but when I go out wearing either of these 2 scents I have Atleast 3+ comments made about it...and not just random "you smell nice" but their faces all up in my neck & chest area trying to suffocate me lol.....
Also, actually "V" by Valentino....Im honestly not a fan of this, but I decided to wear it this past weekend...And within 30 min I had very attractive woman moving in, she couldn't stop smelling me & trying to get close...and to sum it up, Valentino + Patron lead to the nice young lady coming back to my place....lmao....
None of these 3 colognes are my personal Favs, but it is what it is fellas, girls Smell things differently than we do.....enjoy!

Hi! My collection is over 100 fragrances but it is amzing the female compliments I have when I wear Mitsouko de guerlain. Yes, it is a perfume for women but it is my signature fragrance since 1989 and my girlfriend loves it on my skin.

Green Irish Tweed this past Saturday....
+1 to GIT. I've even had gentlemen ask me what I'm wearing.

Other fragrances that get me compliments:
Chanel Allure Homme, Allure Homme Sport, Edition Blanche
Bleu de Chanel
YSL - La Nuit
Lacoste Essential Sport (my gym fragrance )
A*Men Pure Malt
Le Male LE MALE LE MALE (compliments GALORE)
Burberry Brit (not so much with London. I guess women like powdery vanilla)
Givenchy Play Intense (BIG compliment getter)
Buglari Black (Although some people didn't like it)

Gents, I've been wearing down my flacon of GIT all year round. Any suggestions for other highly complimented scents for SUMMER?

The weather is transitioning into wet and warm summer here soon.

Well there is these top complimented summer scents, which i took from the list on page 45:

Listed in order of compliment factor.
1. Issey Miyake L'eau D'Issey
2. Acqua Di Gio
3. Dolce Gabbana pour Homme
4. Creed Millesime Imperial
5. Azzaro Chrome
6. Creed SMW & Himalaya
7. Chanel allure homme sport

Aventus is not listed there, but it was also released after people began to count. And as i have noticed people seem to get ALOT of comliments wearing this.

After last night, I feel confident in saying that if all the sex appeal of all my other fragrances were combined, they still wouldn't match Green Irish Tweed. This is actually disheartening.

Where did you get yours from?

When girls ask me what it is I don't tell them. I just say "Sorry, but I can't have other men smelling as good as me" lol. Say it with a smile and you can get away with it.

Anyway this particular bottle is from neiman marcus
post #3345 of 5548
I have to use that trick of yours when people ask me next time.

I would love to get one from Neiman Marcus, but the price is $285. Compared to FragranceNet (fake?) for almost half the price.

Unless they were on special discount?

Fragrancenet is 100% legitimate, make sure to use the 15% basenotes coupon when you checkout. FragranceX also has some nice prices on Creeds

Recently compliments at work for:-

Aventus (3 different women. 1 in 20s, 1 in 30s, and 1 in 40s)

Chrome (same 30-something who liked Aventus)

Green Irish Tweed (same 40-something who liked Aventus)

Guerlain Homme (although I'm not a fan and won't be buying again)

Millesime Imperial (this surprised me, as it was from a very fussy 30yo girl who is a huge fan of Britney Spears perfumes!!!)

It had been like two months since I had worn Mandarina Duck Pure Black but this past weekend I decided to wear it both friday and saturday nights. I got an avalanche of compliments on it, maybe a dozen or more. It was kind of a boost to my troubled ego in a way. I've been working hard for the past few months and in a serious cash saving mode therefore I haven't had much time for fun so it's been bumming me out a little bit.

The Duck strikes again!

It seems like I went all summer long without getting that many compliments on my frag. I have been wearing Creed VIW a ton and it's not particularly strong so I can see why I haven't been getting many, people just haven't been able to smell me that much.
Wore Bond No. 9 Wall Street for the firs time yesterday, went out to a bar with my girlfriend and I got 5 compliment, one from her, 2 from her friends and 2 from strangers!

I´ve been wearing this lately and it seems to be getting even more compliments than my top compliment getters ( Dreamer and L´occitane) Will Jaipur dethrone these two ? Time will tell...

Did anyone get compliments on pure havane??
No one compliments on anything in my country
You just have to ask them to know the answers e.g : Do I smell good , Do I look good ..etc
The strange thing that all girl I have asked dont love Le Male, they just tell me I smell like a woman ............ But All girls love Cool Water & AHS .
1 Million could be very very sexy If she havent smelled it before but most of them know it now.

I love Pure Havane but I didnt ask anyone about it untill now , My mum just said that It is just overpowering but nothing special ....Nothing else :/
Can someone plz say if Pure Havane is sexy and girls love it or no ??

Pure Havane stinks in a bad way. Most girls do not like it. I do not like it. Chemical sweetness. Nasty.

Same age.

What works for me:
La Nuit De L'Homme (YSL)
Armani Code
1 Million (Paco Rabanne)
Euphoria for Men (Calvin Klein)

These stand out of my collection in the category of attention.

As for which ones are closest to A*Men, I have no clue. What notes do you particularly like in that fragrance? Also, have you ever thought of giving A*Men Pure Malt a shot? http://www.basenotes.net/ID26130614.html

I've heard many wonderful things about it. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to locate it.
