Which scent gets you the most female compliments? - Page 79

Last week I wore Thallium Black and got six compliments, on six different days, from 6 different ladies.

This week I've been wearing Liz Claiborne's Curve - with very similar results......

Next week, I shall mostly be wearing Gucci pour Homme II, possibly......

I found it unusual but recently got few compliments while wearing Lalique White.
If you are going to hit the clubbing scene in brazil definitely take a bottle of Ultrared for men. I had compliments every night.
+1 for John Javratos, original. I usually don't get great longevity from this one, but yesterday, it was still doing well on me after 12 hours. If I always got that sort of longevity from JV, it would be one of my favorites.

Y'know... that is interesting. One of my favorite YouTube reviewers is a guy named Kristo, and he swears by Lalique White. He's such a big fan of it that he stopped putting it in his summer top ten lists because it would be number one every time. I've seen a few others rave about it too, but I must be missing something because Lalique White does nothing for me. Or maybe it's that I can't get past the opening? I don't know, but I'll have to give it another shot sometime.
^^ You must actually give it another chance. Kristo is damn right about Lalique white. Its a great fragrance. I love every bit of it.
I never expected that ladies would like this..but its true!!

Agreed, by now there should have been some type of Poll results for this thread. There has to be at least 5 - 10 scents that keep repeating throughout this post
post #4690 of 5361
Someone was kind enough to tally results fairly recently. If anyone wants to update, feel free to do so yourself and let us know!

Surprisingly I have been receiving a lot of compliments lately from Royal Oud
post #4692 of 5361
My girlfriend likes Drakkar Noir and then Obsession for men, then Boss Bottled (in that order) the most on me. The others she doesn't really comment on.

I have gotten the most compliments from Dior Homme old formulation, but I'm never sure if it's because it's becasue it's male qualities or it's female?

Well, Gucci pour Homme II wasn't a roaring success..... so I've been wearing Aventus for the last couple of days. Now that really has garnered some positive comments.....!!!

That's a great scent, it reminds me of being in Las Vegas for some reason.
Got a female compliment (from my mom lol) wearing DHI today.

"What smells so good?". Said it twice before I told her I think it's my cologne.
Still Azzaro Chrome Legend! It's only still in rotation because we've had some really sunny days. I'll be sad to put it away for the winter as I don't think any of my winter fragrances will get anywhere close to the number of compliments. Ah well!
Just poking around on here I notice that compliments are always a nice side effect of this hobby. Some people take it more seriously than others, but I can pretty safely say that no one dislikes a good word about how they smell.

Say you were to make a "Compliments dream team", i.e. A fantasy league where you would pick "players" (fragrances), to apply onto a selection of males, with the goal of generating as many compliments as possible (ie. each compliment is a point, and points are tallied at the end of a season and the winner would well, win... something that you really want...)

Which fragrances would you choose? Remember is for a random sample of males, not necessarily yourself. I'm having a tough time figuring out the number of 'players', but lets say 6.

1. Creed Aventus
2. Paco Rabanne, One Million
3. Jean Paul Gaultier, Le Male
4. Bleu De Chanel, Chanel
5. La Nuit De L'homme
6. Armani - ADG
My compliment dream team would be:

Creed Aventus
Creed GIT
Bleu de Chanel
Dior Homme (vintage)
Dolce and Gabbana Pour Homme
LADDM
From what I heard from currently widespread opinions on currently popular frags, along the lines of:

One Million
ADG
GIT
M7
CK One
Le Male

As easy as that. From my own personal wardrobe and personal experience- hardly ever the exact figure of 6, either much more or much less than this constant value. I'd say nearly all or nearly none of the scents in my current wardrobe, simply because compliments are such an elusive, unpredictable situation these days, the least likely to be complimented scent of today can become the "major player", the "top dog", the "high performer" in garnering compliments in the suitable environment, context, surrounding etc.
Aventus
Dior Homme
Gianfranco Ferre, In The Mood For Love
Pure Malt
Baldessarini Strictly Private

Suprised to see LDDM on your list. I regret selling my bottle and feel i didn't give it a chance, but never pegged this one as a compliment getter. Will nee to revisit!

Got a compliment at work today from a cute girl - was wearing MI. Later in the day she commented on it again

#6 Green Irish Tweed

In all fairness, my wife really likes it, and one of my assistants once complimented me on it. It's not a big compliment magnet like Aventus, which is basically unparalleled.

Interesting pick, I will have to revisit that one.

Happy you liked the Fantasy team aspect. That was my thinking so the posts would have a "disattatchement" from pretences about teh fragrance etc. Ie. If your a big Rangers fan but pick Sidney Crosby for your Fantasy Hockey Team.
1. Creed Aventus
2. Dior Homme Intense
3. Abercrombie and Fitch Fierce
4. Creed Millesime Imperial
5. Paco Rabanne 1 Million
6. Escentrics Molecule 01

I tagged Molecule 01 on there because theres not one day that I wear it without getting a compliment, even though its completely invisible to my own nose. I've had compliments from across a room 5-6 hours after applying 3 sprays of the stuff in the morning!

Today was Scent Intense by Costume Nationale

I don't think anyone's mentioned Acqua di Gio yet,so I'll have to mention it...

I had quite a few compliments wearing 360 red this summer, it's one of my fiances favs. 360 red and Nautica Voyage both got lots of attention, and they are two of my least expensive frags. Go figure.

Now that you mention that, one of my female friends absolutely hated Millisime Imperiale, but adored Ironman by Avon ($10 fragrance)

Price doesn't matter people.
EMIR by M. Micallef has gotten me compliments.

I also have gotten compliments wearing Creed Green Irish Tweed

I think it has to do with how each scent works with each of our own body chemistry.

By the way, never got a compliment wearing Aventus.

Got a compliment today while waiting in line at the supermarket. She was right after me in line and as the line progressed she started getting closer and closer. She followed me out of the store to give me the "you smell good what are you wearing?". Late 20s good-looking girl. Scent? DHI baby
post #4727 of 5361
Last compliment I got was last Saturday at church. I hugged a young lady about half an hour after reapplying Gucci Pour Homme 2, and after we hugged, she told me I smelled good. Funny thing is, I was hoping she would notice, as I've seen her on twitter talking about guys that wear nice colognes and how it makes her weak. So I was like YESSS! LOL

Yup it's sure a great scent, you have the reform or vintage? Not like there is a big difference anyway...

Reformulated version and according to http://checkcosmetic.net/ it's july 2012. Haven't got a chance to sniff the vintage but reform is really good imo.

I got an interesting compliment on Molecule 01 yesterday from a date. She said I smelled really good. I thanked her and mentioned that I was trying something new, but I didn't give her any details. I asked if she had any thoughts about it. She said "Oh. I would have never guessed you were wearing cologne. I just thought that's what you smell like. I really like it."

Yeah. I've gotten one or two, but not many. It's not a compliment catcher for me at all, but I love the stuff and wear it for myself. If I'm choosing something to wear for someone else, like a date, Aventus isn't my pick.
It's sad. For years, I never wore cologne and received comment after comment (You smell good...What cologne do you wear?...etc). Now I've been wearing cologne nearly every day since July...and haven't received one comment

don't worry same thing happens to me (basically I used to have cuba gold)...I think I just use cologne since the sensation I get when I use them...now I have some real perfumes and get no compliements

Encre Noir by Lalique
Not sure if that counts as a compliment but last saturday evening a relative (female) asked me what I was wearing, because it seemed familiar to her. It was Acqua di Gio and she owns Acqua di Gioia.

One time my brother complemented my fragrance when I was wearing Aventus.
Blah blah blah... Yep It's Aventus for me as well. I have 80+ bottles and have gotten more complements off of the Aventus than all the others combined. After that GIT and MI draw a fair amount.

I was at the zoo and this woman came up to me. Her boyfriend followed. She asked me for the time and told her boyfriend to get her a drink. She then leaned close to me, grabbed me, and told me that I smelled so good she could rub against me all night. I got her number and walked away.

What was I wearing? Creed Aventus.

Magic everytime!
