Ungaro III: I may just have fallen in love.

I got it for a ridiculous price; £11.95. Thats a Quorum-esque price! Upon the first spray I instantly recognized the smell. I'd grown up around this smell, its so familiar. This scent evokes gothic visions in the minds of others. For me it doesn't smell dark, but when I think about it, it really starts to darken. I can detect something blood-like in there too. Longevity is really good too, about 6 hours or more. I stop caring once my longevity fears have abated. At the moment, it's my favorite scent and I can't imagine myself without a bottle. The black and gold is so ominous. Thank you basenotes, I've found a signature!!

I just have one question though. Why is it so cheap to buy? I just don't understand.

I'm too wondering as to why it's cheap. The bottle looks expensive, and so does the scent. To me, it's gothic and dark, especially during the drydown stage. It lasts more than 8 hours on me with 3 sprays.

It's going very cheaply at internet stores - which is usually a sign of impending death. If you like it, I suggest stocking up on a lifetime's supply while you still can.

My bottle will last me about forever ..

Didn't they get bought out by Salvatore Ferragamo? Which isn't saying much as far as the survival of their scents is concerned.

I had a 50ml bottle that I was getting through a bit quicker than most, so I got another 100ml bottle, which should see me out.

it's gotta be supply and demand, right? Maybe Ungaro went nuts producing III.

II - I find is similar to Caron's pour un homme which is loaded with lavender. III- I just found out is a chypre (bergamot at the top and moss at the base) which is my favorite style and is now a must have for me.

There's also supposed to be a big difference between the red cap and the black cap in III. I'm sure another III thread discusses it. The red cap was the original release. which is discussed:

III is wonderful, a dark and deep rose and highly elegant. I wear it often.

Pray show me some sites where it is sold cheap! I want to really get this one. By cheap, do you guys mean $30 cheap, $20 cheap, or less than that? If it's the last one then PLEASE let me know where you guys have seen this!

Absolutely loved this one... just another question - would it be a better daytime or nighttime scent?

It's a good romantic scent, I think. Makes my girlfriend's head swim.

It is interesting to go to the Ungaro web site and read about the fragrance notes in Ungaro III. Apparently, the current version contains no rose at all. The only flower in the composition is geranium.

Hear Hear !!
I like it , but I don't beleive its this dark , gothic monster it has been made out to be .
Guys ! its the bottle that gives us that impression .
Its simplistic , linear & nice ,, yes .
I have sprayed my two little neices with it , as a reward for quietly staring at the bottles in the perfume display cabinet for a few hours

Ungaro Pour L'Homme III notes according to scentdirect:

Top notes: Bergamot oil, Clary Sage oil, Coriander, Lavender, Rosewood,
Middle notes: Geranium, Jasmin, Lily of the Valley, Rose,
Base notes: Amber, Cedar, Labdanum, Leather, Musk, Oakmoss, Patchouli, Sandal, Tonka, Vanilla,

Not exactly a light and simple structure. I'll go try some now.

Excelent top notes! I remember one time when my hairstylists smelled it. WooW... I am too much of a gentelmant to tell the whole story, (no I did not get bitten, but it was even better )

However, I kept 10 ml and gave the bottle away... on my skin it has a gasoline-smell at the end of the day.
