I recently got a sample of Gaiac and love it-- it smells so velvety on me I half-expect my skin to feel the same. I particularly like the opening notes where vetiver glows deeply. I love it, but--- after a little while everything settles on my skin into a scent which may just be too...heavily sweet, almost womanly.
So today I tried Hermes' Vetiver Tonka, and while I've only just applied it, I really like it so far. It seems to pick up on those opening notes in Gaiac and use it as its main riff.
Any thoughts? Is it the gaiac itself in the Gaiac that may be producing that heavy-soft sweet scent on me?
ETA-- unfortunately the Hermes seems to lack the intoxicating depth and velvet texture of the Gaiac...is it a trade-off?
